the book blogger test tag

it’s weeeeekend!!! yay!!! at this moment i will probably taking a nap, or reading in my bed or whatever! but i will definitely be relaxing the hell out of this weekend. i need that! but first, let’s do this tag, because it’s such a cool tag and i love that my wonderful girl naty over @naty’s bookshelf tagged me in this!!! naty is just awesome! she’s so kind and great, there is nothing more to say. so of course you need to check out her blog! ❤

the rules:

  • thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog
  • answer the ten questions asked on this post
  • nominate at least five people to do it also

1.) top 3 book pet hates

  • i really don’t like mass market paperbacks. i would always prefer a different edition than the mass market paperback. and it makes me mad, that these editions are the cheapest. (only exception: the “outlander” series by diana gabaldon)
  • the font. there is one font that i hate. i just can’t read it well. in a bookstore i always look for it, and if the book has that font, i don’t buy the book. and if you want to know which one it is, the uk paperback edition of “a darker shade of magic” by v.e. schwab has that font. that’s why i never bought those books. i paid a lot of money to have the us hardcovers, which are way prettier in my opinion. but yeah, as you can see, i won’t buy a book with that font 😀
  • i am not the biggest fan of people on the cover. i don’t know what it’s about books with people on the cover, but i always prefer other covers. and don’t kill me, but i love the “tower of dawn” cover so much more than the other covers, with the person on the front. yepp, unpopular opinion here 😀

2.) perfect reading spot

that is soooo easy. my bed. always my bed. i got a new bed at the beginning of this year and i just can’t get out of it! i even put my bookshelves in my living room, so that i would read on the couch and get out of the bedroom, but no way, it didn’t work. i am basically just in the living room, when i want to get to the balcony or grab some books. and that’s a pity, because my living room is huge and cute but it doesn’t have my bed… 😀

3.) three book confessions

  • i crack the spine, i write in the books, i dog ear pages, i mark, i tab, i do all those things to my books. sue me!
  • my goodreads isn’t updated, because i am scared to see, how huge my physical tbr is 😀

4.) last time you cried reading a book

although tears came during “autoboyography” by christina lauren, “words in deep blue” by cath crowley was the last book where the tears were streaming down my face!!! like big time!

5.) number of books on your bedside table

just two ha! but i won’t talk about the books on my shelf further away from my bed 😀

6.) favorite reading snack

chips, chips and always chips! forever and ever and ever! 😀

7.) three books you’d recommend to anyone

janeeyrepurple martian AManCalledOve

i specifically didn’t pick any young adult books. why? i even don’t know myself hahaha. as for a classic, i would always recommend “jane eyre” by charlotte bronte. i love it. as for a sci-fi i will always be going with “the martian” by andy weir, because that book is sooooooo amazing and funny and it has mark watney. ❤ and as for contemporary fiction, i will go with “a man called ove” by fredrik backman, because i love ove and this is such a beautiful story, that broke me. i cried like a baby and i felt all emotions. so beautiful!

8.) a picture of your favorite bookshelf

never pick a favorite child, right? 😀 😀 😀

9.) how much books mean to you (in three words)

books are everything!

10.) biggest reading secret

i still have a book on my shelf, that belongs to a person, i haven’t seen in over 12 years…

i tag:

i would also tag kathy from books & munches, but she’ll probably kill me, so i specifically won’t tag her! 😀

the music book tag

wohoooo, it’s friday!!! which means, the weekend is coming! ❤ i can’t wait! also, it’s friday 13th and i love the 13th. it’s my number. 😀 and to celebrate this wonderful day, i wanted to do another tag! i will be doing “the music book tag”, which combines two of my favorite things: music & books. yay!! thank you so much to the wonderful charlotte annelise for tagging me! if you don’t know her, please go check out her blog! she’s an awesome person and deserves all the love! 🙂

the rules:

  • link back to me as bookchanted, as the creator of the tag. i want to read your answers y’all!!
  • you can use the graphics if you want
  • tag at least four other people!
  • HAVE FUN!!!!

1.) ed sheeran: an adorable book that left you feeling warm and fuzzy

i could probably list so many ya contemporaries here, but i am going with “the sun is also a star” by nicola yoon! i loved this book. it was such a cute story with wonderful characters and it made me happy while reading it.

2.) taylor swift: a book with way too much drama to keep track of

if you want drama in the style of “gossip girl”, then please read “the thousandth floor” by katharine mcgee. this book is a guilty pleasure for me, because i enjoyed the drama so much! 😀

3.) zayn malik: the broody, mysterious character you totally fell for

no surprise here, right? you all know, that i love kaz from “six of crows” by leigh bardugo with all of my heart! ❤

4.) jelena: a ship you really wanted but it never sailed

i honestly have no answer for that. i am shocked myself!! :O

5.) fall out boy: a series that just keep getting better and better

i know, that “the nevernight chronicle” by jay kristoff isn’t done yet! but, i am pretty sure, that mr. kristoff won’t disappoint! i loved “nevernight”. but “godsgrave” was better. and now there is just one more thing to top that. the ending! give it to me please!!!!!!!

6.) halsey/demi lovato: a badass female character you really admire

you all know, that i wasn’t the biggest fan of “the long way to a small angry planet” by becky chambers. but i was a huge fan of kizzy! that character is phenomenal! she is smart and strong and has amazing skills. and most of all she is funny and made me laugh so much! i love that girl!

7.) one direction: the romantic, cheesy book you couldn’t help but love

i really enjoyed the “to all the boys i’ve loved before” series by jenny han. it was fun, it was cheesy, it was romantic, it was just so cute! 🙂

8.) adele: a book that delivers a really powerful message

i was pretty shook after reading “thirteen reasons why” by jay asher. even more after watching the series on netflix. it’s a powerful book/series. you never know what your actions are going to do to other people. you never know, how you affect them and you never know what the consequences can be!

9.) miley cyrus: a book/series that exceeded your expectations

i am going with a classic here. i did hear a few things about “jane eyre” by charlotte bronte before going into this book. but i also knew, that it was a classic and i was kind of scared of it, because it is huge. what i didn’t expect, is, that i would love this book so much! i love the story, i enjoyed reading it and i flew through it!! it’s an amazing book and i am so happy, that i read it, because it’s my favorite classic so far! 🙂

10.) katy perry: a book/series that didn’t live up to the hype

first of all, i love rainbow rowell. i love her books and her stories. that’s why i was so eager to read “eleanor & park”, because this was everyone’s favorite book by her. but no, i just have to say know. i had trouble while reading this book, because i couldn’t connect with eleanor at all. i don’t know what it was, but this book was just not for me!

i tag:

hocus pocus book tag

i realized, that i haven’t done a tag in quite some time now. so it’s perfect, that the wonderful katie over @never not reading tagged me in the hocus pocus book tag. she created the tag herself and i am sure, i will have a lot of fun with it! i love the movie so much! thank you katie for tagging me. ❤ if you don’t know her blog, please go and check it out, because katie is awesome! 🙂

1.) the sanderson sisters

giphy (13)

a great trilogy:

well, it shouldn’t be surprising, that i choose the “shades of magic” trilogy by v.e. schwab. i have talked about my love for these books and especially for kell a lot on my blog. but i do not regret it. it’s an amazing series!

2.) winifred sanderson

giphy (14)

a book with a truly evil female villain:

huh, turns out, i haven’t read a lot of books with female villains. but the queen of hearts from “alice’s adventures in wonderland” by lewis caroll counts, right?

3.) sarah sanderson

a book that uncannily attracts children:

i am going with germany here, because i know, that all books by astrid lindgren are still very popular in this country. i myself loved all her stories and i loved the tv series even more. pippi longstocking is my favorite, which probably explains, why my cat is named after her 😀

4.) mary sanderson

giphy (3)

a book that is just plain silly:

i’m going with silly as in funny here and not with silly as in stupid here. 😀 just to clarify. a book that was so funny and made me laugh so much was “the hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy” by douglas adams. i love that book and especially the little depressed robot marvin. 😀 ❤

5.) max

giphy (6)

a book that is trying really hard to be cool, but doesn’t always succeed:

i have to go with this anthology here! “because you love to hate me” had a great concept. booktubers paired with authors to make them write a story about villains. all in all it sounds pretty cool. for me, a frequent booktube watcher, i was really looking forward to it! but i was disappointed, because there were just a few stories that could convince me and the rest was just meh.

6.) dani

giphy (2)

a book that isn’t afraid to tell it like it is:

i have to go with my recent read “autoboyography” by christina lauren. this book felt so honest to me, because it portrayed the feelings of the protagonists so well. i was really feeling their feelings and it just was so believable how shitty both their lives were regarding their situation. i will always be greatful for this book!

7.) binx

a book series that just won’t die:

i don’t have an answer for this, because i haven’t read that many long series yet, to say this.

8.) ice

giphy (5)

a book with a character that’s dumb as a rock:

i have absolutely nothing more to say about bryce from “thirteen reasons why” by jay asher!

9.) the black flame candle

giphy (7)

a book or series you wish you could resurrect:

is it too early to talk about this? 😀

10.) headless billy butcherson

giphy (4)

a book that’s not so bad as people make it out to be:

i hear so many people talking trash about john green’s books and i need to defend them. they are not bad. you may not like them but they are absolutely not bad. they are written beautifully, have some of the most amazing quotes i have ever seen in books and they make you feel something. so please stop saying, that they are bad. maybe you do not like them, BUT THEY ARE NOT BAD!!! (i somehow needed to get this of my chest)

11.) winifred sanderson’s spell book

giphy (8)

a book with a mind of its own:

that’s definitely one of my recent reads – “station eleven” by emily st. john mandel. still don’t know, what this book is supposed to tell me… (sorry, guys)

12.) garry marshall

giphy (1)

a book with a cameo:

this is the only book, that comes to mind. in “the upside of unrequited” by becky albertalli there appear some characters from her first book “simon vs. the homo sapiens agenda”. that was pretty cool! 🙂

that was the hocus pocus book tag! i hope you liked it! 🙂 i am tagging a few people, that were not on katies list, haha 😀

the pastry book tag

wohoooo, it’s thursday, which means, it’s almost weekend time! i am really looking forward to the weekend, because i will be book shopping with my best bookish friend on saturday! yay! i mean, it’s not that i don’t have enough books, but i love our book shopping tours! 🙂

so, since i am in a good mood, i will be doing another book tag, whooop whooop. i was tagged by the lovely michaela over @journey into books. if you don’t know her, she’s amazing, so go over to her blog. also, this tag made me hungry so i needed to do it hahaha 😀

1.) croissant – name a popular book or series that everyone (including you) loves

sixofcrows crookedkingdom

i’m going to go with the “six of crows” duology by leigh bardugo. i think there are very few people, who don’t like these books. including me. i love those characters and the heists and the action and KAZ! omg i love kaz so much! ❤ 😀

2.) macaroon – name a book that was hard to get through but was worth it at the end

that would be “red rising” by pierce brown for me. i really, really like this book. but i had my difficulties getting through it. first of all, the world was complicated and i felt like i was thrown into it and was expected to know everything. secondly, it was a slow read and i don’t know why. i just struggled. but i am glad, that i read it, because i love the characters and the action in this book is awesome! 🙂

3.) vol-au-vent – name a book that you thought would be amazing but fell flat

i am a huge rainbow rowell fan. i love “fangirl”, “carry on”, “attachments” and “kindred spirits” by her. these are great books and i had so much fun reading them. so of course i thought, that “eleanor & park” would be great. but i was wrong. i struggled with this book because of eleanor. i couldn’t connect with her at all and i was so disappointed, that i didn’t enjoy the book as much as other people did.

4.) pain au chocolate – name a book that you thought would be one thing but turned out to be something else

sometimes it’s good to know what a book is about. i am a person, that doesn’t like synopsises that much, because they give too much away. so i mostly stay away from them or forget them immediately after reading them 😀 and this was the case with “i’ll give you the sun” by jandy nelson. i knew, that everyone loved this book and i thought that it is a fluffy, cute and light contemporary. oh boy was i wrong. this book was deep and dealed with some serious stuff. i didn’t expect that at all.

5.) profiterole – name a book series that doesn’t get enough attention

definitely the reckoners series by brandon sanderson. i see it here and there sometimes, but there are very few people who talk about it. i read it after “the martian” by andy weir and i thought it was great. it has a funny main character, the plot is really cool and there are twists and turns. it’s a fun book. the first book “steelheart” is amazing. the series gets worse, but it is still fun to read and totally worth the time.

6.) croquembouche – name a book or series that is extremely complex

“one flew over the cuckoo’s nest” by ken kesey is just crazy. yes, it is! but it is good!!!

7.) napoleon – name a movie or tv series that you liked more than the book

definitely “the jane austen book club” by karen joy fowler. i love that movie so much. and when i read the book last year, i was kind of disappointed. it was different than the movie, which i have seen before reading, the narration was not what i expected and all in all, i wasn’t the biggest fan.

8.) empanada – name a book that was bittersweet

i will go with my most recent bittersweet read and that was “they both die at the end” by adam silvera. this book will make you cry, but it is also a book full of hope and about living your life to the fullest 🙂

9.) kolompeh – name a book or series that takes place somewhere other than your home country

well pretty much every book i read takes place somewhere other than my home country which is german. so it’s not possible for me to choose one, that’s why i am going with some of my contemporaries 🙂

10.) pate a choux – name one food from a book or series that you would like to try

all of lara jean’s cookies! give them to me! 😀

whoop whoop, that’s it guys. i hope you liked this tag and my answers and i am tagging EVERYONE who is hungry right now! 😀

the end of the year book tag

it’s friday my friends and i think it’s time i do another book tag! do you agree? of course you do! 😀 i saw this tag on ariel bissetts booktube channel and since the weather sucks and it’s cold, i figured this tag is perfect. so let’s just get to it:

1.) are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Dragonfly in Amber - Diana Gabaldon littlewomen

i started “dragonfly in amber” by diana gabaldon, when i was in cuba in march this year! yes, it’s been a long time. and i just got stuck and didn’t continue. i really want to though and it was on my tbr for #sequelseptember, but i don’t think it will happen this month… life guys, life. but i really would like to finish it this year, just to continue with the series.
“little women” by louisa may alcott was another book i started earlier this year. my problem with this one was, that i read many classics at that time and somehow got overwhelmed, that’s why i put it aside. but i really want to finish it, because i enjoyed it.

2.) do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

thefear goldenson

i am a big mood reader and every time i want to do a readathon or a challenge, i suck at it, because i never pick up the books, i want to read. i really don’t know what’s wrong with me haha 😀 maybe i just can’t handle the pressure. but i figured that these two books fit into the autumn time too, since they won’t be happening in #sequelseptember.
“the fear” by charlie higson is the third book in the series and i really wanted to finish the series this year. i am sure it won’t happen, but maybe i’ll get to this one.
“golden son” by pierce brown is the second book in the series and since “red rising” was kind of dark, i think “golden son” will be a good read for the fall. and since autumn colors are kind of golden, this fits perfectly. 😀

3.) is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

there are many releases i am still waiting for, but “turtles all the way down” by john green is by far the one, i am most excited about. i am trying not to get my hopes up to high for it, but i guess that won’t be possible. i just want this book in my hands!!!

4.) what are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

emma biglittlelies historyisallyouleftme

i started my “one austen a month” project this year and i was very good at it. until “emma”. somehow i never got around to picking it up. i think my “war & peace” read is getting in the way. but i definitely want to read “emma” this year, because i want to say, that i read all of jane austens novels in 2017. 😀
“big little lies” by liane moriarty is another book i really want to read this year. i saw the first episode of the show and i loved it. i decided to read the book first, before continuing with the show, but somehow that never happened. but it needs to. i am so excited for this one!
and last but not least, i really want to read “history is all you left me” by adam silvera. i’ve been meaning to read this for such a long time. and since i came back with a signed copy from the us back in july, it’s been sitting on my shelf and starring at me. i am bad, i know!

5.) is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

godsgrave turtlesallthewaydown

i don’t want to repeat myself, but if “turtles all the way down” is good, it could maybe beat “kids of appetite” by david arnold or “a man called ove” by fredrik backman. these were definitely two of the best books i’ve read this year. but who knows? maybe it will be “godsgrave” by jay kristoff? i am still at the beginning of this, but i love it so far and i have a feeling, that it will blow my mind!

6.) have you already started making reading plans for 2018?

yes i did! i decided not to make so many plans, because it’s obvious, that i can’t stick to them hahaha 😀

that’s it. i hope you liked my answers! let me know your answers in the comments! 🙂

i am gonna tag some people, but if you want to do this tag, please do it! 🙂

the unpopular opinions book tag

yay, it’s thursday, which means, time for a tag. well i could do a tag everyday, but that would be kinda boring, right? 😀 but today i am in the mood for it and since the wonderful charlotte annelise tagged me for the unpopular opinions book tag, i thought i give it a go. i wanted to do this tag for a while now and now i can, yay! (well i still could have just done it, but what can ya say, i love being tagged haha 😀 )

1.) a popular book or book series that you didn’t like

upsideof  alongwaytoasmallangryplanet

ok, hear me out. it’s not that i didn’t like these books. i just didn’t enjoy them as much as other people did. the hype for these books was huge and i hoped, that i would love them as much as others did. but that wasn’t the case. i really liked how diverse “the upside of unrequited” by becky albertalli was. the cast of characters was amazing. my only problem was with molly. i couldn’t connect with her at all. i don’t know why. but she was annoying me and i really had my problems with her. that’s why i couldn’t enjoy this book that much.

as for “a long way to a small angry planet” by becky chambers, i really loved some of the characters. i mean, kizzy is like the best. but the story dragged for me. i had problems with the writing and i couldn’t really get into it. it took me a very long time to finish this book and i thought the ending was forced way too much. it just wasn’t for me and i was so sad, because i was really looking forward to it!

2.) a popular book or book series that everyone else seems to hate but you love

it seems as everyone hates the “after” series by anna todd. everywhere i look, people are so mad about it. and i get it. there is some unhealthy stuff in it. and it shouldn’t work, but for some reason it did for me. i read 2,5 books during one week on vacation, because i couldn’t put it down. and these books are huge! i was lost in that world and these characters kept me turning the pages. i flew through these huge books and i really enjoyed them.

3.) an otp that you don’t like

nope, just nope! i really wasn’t a fan of mia and adam in “if i stay” and “where she went” by gayle forman. they didn’t click. i couldn’t feel it. unfortunately, because otherwise this series would have been much better for me. but i had problems with them and with the books itself. this just wasn’t for me.

4.) a popular book genre that you hardly reach for

historical fiction. i don’t know why, because most of the time i enjoy it, when i start a historical fiction. but i hardly reach for it. it’s hard for me, because i have so many other books i want to read before i pick up a historical fiction book. am i afraid i won’t like it? am i afraid it will bore me? i don’t know, don’t ask me 😀

5.) a popular/beloved character that you do not like

eleanor. i didn’t like her. she ruined this book for me. i couldn’t connect with her. she annoyed me and it was just meh. i was soooo looking forward to this book and it didn’t work for me because of eleanor. i think this is the only rainbow rowell book, i wasn’t a big fan of.

6.) a popular author that you can’t seem to get into

that’s hard for me to answer, because there are popular authors, i haven’t read yet. i will do a separate post on that one soon. but so far i haven’t read any of their books so i can’t say if i can get into their books or not.

7.) a popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing

love triangles. and this goes for everything. movies, tv shows, books. i hate love triangles and the whole “who-is-the-right-one-for-who”? that annoys me so so so much. why can’t just two people be put together and then tell their story. and don’t go back and forth between all characters. ah, that makes me mad. just do it like they did it with nathan and hailey in “one tree hill”. first season, together, after 9 seasons, still together. nothing else. perfect couple. love it! i’ve read a lot of contemporary romances in the last year and i am so happy, that most of them focused on one OTP and not a love triangle. thank you so much for that! 😀

8.) a popular series that you have no interest in reading

vampireacademy darktower thelightningthief

i’m pretty sure, i will never read the “vampire academy” series by richelle mead. i am just not interested in it. also, “the dark tower” series by stephen king. there are just waaay too many books. and last but not least, i won’t read any series by rick riordan. i know, they are supposed to be really good. but i am just not interested in them.

9.) the saying goes “the book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or tv show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

brooklyn 13reasons

when it comes to movies, i really enjoyed the adaptation of “brooklyn” by colm tóibín. i liked the book but the movie had the better ending. i mean, it was the same ending, but the movie executed it way better than the book did!

as for tv show adaptations, i have to say “thirteen reasons why” by jay asher. i really liked the netflix series, because it somehow gave me so much more the story. and through visualizing it, i was way more emotionally involved.

that’s it guys. these were my answers. please let me know, which answers you would pick for the questions! 🙂

and saving for last, i tag:

wonder woman book tag

happy sunday my friends! i hope you are doing great and that you are healthy and happy! ❤ since this is the last day of the #makemeread read-a-thon i thought i would celebrate this with a tag, because apparently i love to do tags and why the hell not? 😀

i got tagged for the wonder woman book tag by haley @fangirl fury and donna @moms book collection a while ago and now it’s finally time. thanks so much girls! ❤ if you haven’t checked them out, please do, because they are amazing. the tag was originally created by amber @amber’s books and more on booktube.

1.) wonder woman: your favorite badass female book character

hands down mia covere from “nevernight” by jay kristoff! that girl is like whaaaaaaat? i love her. she knows what she wants. she takes what she wants and she doesn’t listen to anybody. go girl!!!

2.) fantasy island: a book setting you want to escape to

i choose red london from the “shades of magic” series by v.e. schwab. i think the whole world in this series was created perfectly and i think it would be so amazing to be part of it. of course i would need to be an antari, because i want to see the other londons too 😀

3.) london: a hyped book that let you down

i recently finished “crooked kingdom” by leigh bardugo and if you read my review, you’ll know why this book let me down. i wanted it to be so much more! 😦

4.) steve trevor: a book that has a beautiful cover and a great story (i.e. great personality)

i haven’t talked a lot about “we are the ants” by shaun david hutchinson on this blog and i don’t even know why! look at this cover! and have you read it? the story is beautiful and you will cry and it’s just wonderful! ❤

5.) lasso of truth: a book you hated

hate is such a strong word! i don’t hate books. some i don’t like but i think every book gives something to the reader, so hate is not a good word. but “jane steele” by lyndsay faye is a book i didn’t enjoy recently.

6.) wonder woman’s shield: a book so sad you need a shield

there’s no way you won’t cry when reading this book. your heart will break. there’s no way around it.

7.) no man’s land: a book that you want to send through no man’s land (i.e. shoot it to death)

i could never do that! every book deserves it’s existence. (i say that now because i haven’t read a book so far that proved me otherwise 😀 )

8.) ares: a villain that is scary, but you can’t seem to hate

maybe we shouldn’t talk about this one. because it’s disturbing. and i don’t know what’s wrong with me. but it just seems, i can’t hate joe from “you” by caroline kepnes. *facepalm* 😀

9.) dr. poison: a villain that has no reason to exist

this one is hard as well, because i love a good villain. you put so much more emotion into a book, when there is a good villain that wants to hurt your favorite characters. so yeah, i wouldn’t want to miss any of my favorite villains. 🙂

10.) the amazons: a book that you wish had more/better LGBT+ representation

wow, seems like i can’t answer these questions 😀 i know, that a lot of people wish that the “a court of thornes and roses” series by sarah j. maas would have better LGBT+ representation. but i haven’t read this series, so i can’t say much about that…

11.) justice league: what superhero book friends do you tag?

that was it guys. i know i haven’t had answers for everything, but well, sometimes it is how it is 😀 what would your answers be? feel free to do the tag or let me know in the comments 🙂
