summer book tag

i recently did a summer book tag, but that one had different questions. so when haley @fangirl fury nominated me to do THIS summer book tag, i was like: “oh yeah. it’s summer. let’s do more summer thingys”. πŸ˜€ thank you haley so much for tagging me. if you guys don’t know her blog yet, then what are you waiting for, go and check it out, she’s amazing! πŸ™‚

1.) what book cover makes you think of summer?

do i even need to explain that one? do i? ok, i will πŸ˜€ i mean, look at it. it has “sun” in the title. it has wonderful colors, that just jump right at you. it makes you happy. so yes, i think of summer. and the story is also great. i really loved “the sun is also a star”. πŸ™‚

2.)Β what book has brightened your day?

i loooved “the hating game” by sally thorne. this book is so funny, i had to laugh all the time while listening to the audiobook. the characters are so adorable and this is a perfect romance chick-lit for the summer.

3.)Β find a book cover with yellow on it

if you haven’t read a book by sarah winman yet, then it’s really time for you to do so. “when god was a rabbit” and “a year of marvellous ways” are two wonderful stories, that will make you happy. they are beautiful and sarah winmans writing is just magical. i am so happy, that her new book “tin man” is now in my hands and i will read it immediately after the #makemeread read-a-thon is over. ❀

4.) what is your favorite summer beach read?

there’s no beach near me, so i’ll have to pass on this one. i just remember reading “the light between ocean” last year at the lake and i was mad all the time, so i think that one doesn’t count as a good summer beach read πŸ˜€

5.)Β what action book had you running for the ice cream man?

this book guys, this book! :O i read it in one sitting, because i couldn’t put it down! there was so much stuff happening. so much action. so much WHAAAAT? i loved it. read it. it was perfect. ❀

6.)Β (sunburn) what book has left you with a bad and/or painful ending?

let’s just not talk about this one!

7.)Β (sunset) what book gave you the happiest feelings when it ended?Β

“geekerella” by ashley poston was just so so so sooooo cute. i was so happy after reading it and it was the perfect book to help me out of my reading slump! yay! πŸ™‚

8.)Β what book cover reminds you of a sunset?

this cover isn’t bright yellow to me, it’s more a orangy type, so that’s why it reminds me more of a sunset than of the sun brightly shining. does that make sense to anybody other than me? πŸ˜€

9.)Β what is one book or series you hope to read this summer?

i hope, i’ll finally get to “red rising” by pierce brown. maybe not the whole trilogy but at least the first book. i really want to read it and so many people are counting on me to do it. so yeah, this will happen. hopefully πŸ˜€

i hope you enjoyed my summer book tag. have you read any of those books? let me know! and since i want to spread some summer love, i tag these wonderful people:

the summer book tag

i found this tag on amy jane reads channel and i decided to do it, because the sun is shining and summer is here – yay! ❀ πŸ˜€

1. What three books do you want to read this summer?

elizaandhermonstersΒ becauseyoulovetohatemeΒ summerdaysandsummernights

today my bookmail came, yay! i can’t wait to start on “eliza and her monsters” by francesca zappia. i’m so happy i have nothing else to do today, so i can relax and just read. ❀
and since i am so invested in booktube, i was so happy to hear, that there is an anthology, where authors collaborated with booktubers. so i had to have my hands on “because you love to hate me” and now it’s finally here.
a few days ago i started with “summer days and summer nights” but so far, i am not really sold on that one. but we’ll see. πŸ™‚

2. Which character most embodies the traits of summer?

this one is hard, because every character has it’s flaws and can’t be happy and sunshiny all the time. but i am going to go with augustus waters from “the fault in our stars” by john green. i love this guy. he is cute and adorable and he enjoys life to the fullest. he’s there for his friends, goes for what he wants and always tries to be happy, no matter what life throws at him. gotta love him! ❀

3. What book do you most associate with the physicality of summer?

mosquitolandΒ thelastdaysofcaliforniaΒ ontheroad

for this i am going to go with books about roadtrips. i love going on roadtrips myself and it’s this feeling of freedom, just driving around, clearing your head and enjoying life, that says summer to me. being outside on a vacation and just live life. that’s what summer means to me and that’s why i associate summer with roadtrips. last year i’ve read three books about roadtrips, “mosquitoland” by david arnold, “the last days of california” by mary miller and “on the road” by jack kerouac. i’ve read them during summer and they made me happy, because i could discover the world a little bit, without traveling myself.

4. What kind of books do you like to read on holiday? Any books that hold memories to certain places?

thesisterhoodofthetravelingpantsΒ after

since i am a sucker for ya-romances, i could read them all the time. but summer is still my favorite season to read them. they are light and funny and mostly with a happy ending, so that i am also very happy in the end πŸ˜€
the first book, that comes to mind is “the sisterhood of the traveling pants” by ann brashares. i read this book 9 years ago while i was traveling through the USA on my own. i loved this book back then and i still keep it with me in my heart and in my bookshelf, although it looks really rough πŸ˜€
the second book that comes to mind is “after” by anna todd. i know, there are a lot of things wrong with this book, but for me it came at the right time and it was my guilty pleasure during my one week vacation in greece. i read 3,5 books of this series back then and i remember loving it. summer, sun, beach and a story, that kept me turning the pages. πŸ™‚

5. If you could you go on holiday with any author, who would you go with and where? What would you want to know?

laurengrahamΒ wild

i found the perfect one for that and i am going to go with lauren graham. i know she is mainly an actress, but she also wrote a novel (“someday, someday maybe“) and the memoir “talking as fast as i can“. this woman is one of my favorite people on earth and i love her as an actress and writer. she is so funny and i think we would have the best time. i would do “wild” by cheryl strayed with her, because she never got to do it as lorelei gilmore in “gilmore girls: a year in the life”. Β but don’t ask me, what i would want to know, because i think we would talk nonstop πŸ˜€

6. What’s your book of the year so far?

definitely “kids of appetite” by david arnold. it is just sooooooo amazing! ❀ ❀ ❀

7. How did you spend your summer holidays as a child?

mostly we went on vacation for two weeks. we spent it as a family on the beach in different countries in europe. the rest of the time i was mostly outside playing with the other kids in the neighborhood. there was no tv or computer back then, so we just played outside and it was amazing. ❀

8. What are your plans this summer?

reading as much as i can. also going to los angeles for a week, then get some friends to visit me in berlin and going to a robbie williams concert and the lollapallooza festival to see mumford & sons. i am soooo looking forward to it. otherwise just relax and enjoy the summer in the city. i already had my vacation in the beginning of the year when i went on a roadtrip through cuba. ❀

feel free to do this tag yourself and let me know, what your favorite summer read is. also, Β what do you plan to read this summer?
