“heir of fire” – buddy read discussion – part I (spoilers ahead)

happy sunday my lovelies ❤ it’s time for our first discussion for “heir of fire” by sarah j. maas. as you guys might know, i am doing a readalong with the wonderful adrienne from @darque dreamer reads and kathy over @books and munches. we’re in the middle of book three in the “throne of glass” series now and it’s time for another q&a. our final discussion will be next sunday, so watch out for the post. 🙂 there will also be a q&a on adrienne’s blog, so go over and check it out! 🙂

here’s a short synopsis of “throne of glass”, if you haven’t read the book or don’t know what the book series is about:

throne of glass” is about 18 year old celaena, who was trained to be an assassin and ends up as a slave. she is freed by crown prince dorian to participate in a competition, where the winner becomes the new assassin of the royal family. celaena doesn’t think twice, because she wants her freedom. but with her being in that competition, things start to happen, that make her life complicated: friendships, feelings, killings, magic & mystery.

1.) What do you like/dislike most about part one?

adrienne: “I like the addition of the witches because their part seems quite interesting, and I want to know more about the wyverns. I dislike the “relationship” beginning between Dorian and Sorscha because I had hoped he would pine after Celaena for a while as a changed man.”

me: “i dislike that it doesn’t have the same feeling than the first two books had. it’s not that funny at all. i have maybe one section marked with my green tab. thinking about book one and two, there were way more. i am also not a big fan of the three different settings. celaena in wendlyn, dorian and chaol back in the glass castle and then manon. it just feels not right. the thing i like so far is, that we still have dorian and chaol’s perspective. i was afraid they wouldn’t be in this book, but i am so happy that they are. “

2.) Do you like Dorian’s plot so far?

adrienne: “I am not liking things going on with Dorian at the moment. His role is feeling kind of forced and awkward.”

me: “i actually do. i like that he met sorscha and that something is happening between them. this makes my heart beat faster for celaena and chaol. but i also have a feeling, that something bad is going to happen to sorscha. we’ll see. so far i enjoy this story.”

3.) What do you think about Chaol teaming up with Aedion?

adrienne: “I think it is quite interesting for Chaol to be teaming up with Aedion and it seems like such a Chaol thing to do because he knows he screwed up with Celaena over Nehemia.”

me: “i was really surprised, when chaol started to talk to aedion and told him the truth about celaena. i didn’t expect that at all, considering chaol probably knows the consequences. but he also loves her and wants to protect her, so i am very happy, that he doesn’t stand on the king’s side, but does things against that.”

4.) Who’s your favorite new character and why?

adrienne: “I don’t really have a favorite new character yet. I am still liking Celaena and Chaol.”

me: “i don’t like manon, because i can’t connect with her so far, maybe because i have no idea where this is going. aedion is still a mystery to me and i am not sure if he is good or bad. i have a feeling that i need to know more about sorscha to like her. and rowan, well, that guy made me angry a lot of time. but i am slowly getting used to him and i think i will like him at some point. right now, there is not really a favorite.”

5.) What do you think will happen with Manon and the wyverns?

adrienne: “I have no clue what to expect from the witches because I don’t know how they will find out who killed Baba Yellowlegs, and I find it really hard to believe the king will keep his bargain with them.”

me: “right now, i have no idea. i am pretty sure, that manon will find out about who killed baba yellowlegs and that her path will cross with celaena at some point. but i have no idea where this is going at all.”

6.) How do you feel about Celaena’s and Rowan’s story, especially the ending of part one?

adrienne: “I am not a big fan of the interaction between Celaena and Rowan. It just doesn’t feel like it fits, and if they are supposed to be cousins, there shouldn’t be any romance going on, but the ending kind of felt like it was leading to that.”

me: “as i mentioned before, i was mad at rowan so many times. i was also afraid, that something between him and celaena would happen, but i don’t think that anymore. i am glad, that he made her break down. that she showed her true feelings and all his training is showing progress and i like that. i like seeing what happens with celaena. but somehow his grumpiness turned too fast into an alliance with celaena. something is wrong about that and i am not sure what. we’ll see.”

7.) What do you expect from part two?

adrienne: “I am expecting Celaena to prove herself to Maeve. I am expecting Chaol’s plans to return to his father to get ruined somehow, and I expect Dorian to get in to some sort of trouble with Sorscha.”

me: “i expect that at least manon’s and celaena’s path crosses at some point, because i don’t like these two separate stories, since i can’t connect with manon at all right now. i also expect that something between dorian and chaol will happen. that they talk or that dorian will be a part of chaol’s team. i hope for more action, because this book is too slow for my taste right now. there needs to be more action. maybe celaena will meet maeve again and something will happen. i also want more fun. i want the old feeling back.”

that was our q&a for the first part of “heir of fire”. what do you think? did you feel the same way? what was your favorite thing happening in the first part?

i really hope, that this book picks up and brings things together. i don’t like that it’s split that way. maybe that’s the reason why it feels so slow and that nothing much exciting is happening. i am disappointed so far and i hope, that it will be better in part two. give me back the old feeling! 😀

as i said, adrienne will also post a q&a on her blog, so go check it out. on december 17th our final discussion and review will be up, so you can see how our feelings developed for this book. have a great sunday everyone! 🙂 ❤

let’s do this – “heir of fire” by sarah j. maas

hello my lovely bookoholics! ❤ i hope, you have a wonderful first december weekend!! 🙂 today is a very, very exciting day!!

my girl adrienne from @darque dreamer reads and i started a readalong for “throne of glass” back in august and we made a blog event out of it. we sent each other questions before we started reading and then also during our reading to discuss the book. it was so much fun, that we decided to continue with “crown of midnight” in october. we were then joined by my girl kathy from books & munches and had such a good time with book two in the series. so, now it’s december and it’s definitely time to continue. starting today we will read book three in the series, “heir of fire”.

here’s a short synopsis of “throne of glass”, if you haven’t read the book, just to get a feeling, what this series is about:

throne of glass” is about 18 year old celaena, who was trained to be an assassin and ends up as a slave. she is freed by crown prince dorian to participate in a competition, where the winner becomes the new assassin of the royal family. celaena doesn’t think twice, because she wants her freedom. but with her being in that competition, things start to happen, that make her life complicated: friendships, feelings, killings, magic & mystery.

adrienne and i will again do two posts to discuss our feelings for the book. this time we’re taking two weeks to read it, because “heir of fire” is huge and with my schedule i probably won’t be able to read it in one week. so we’ll discuss part one of the book on sunday, december 10th and our final discussion will be posted on december 17th. so watch out for the posts. if you want to read along and discuss with us, please join us in the comments 🙂

now it’s time for our first q&a. i have sent adrienne three questions before reading “heir of fire” and here are both of our answers. please be aware, that these will contain spoilers (!!!!!!!!), if you haven’t read the first two books in the series.

1.) After “Throne of Glass” and “Crown of Midnight”, which rating do you think you’ll give “Heir of Fire”?

adrienne: “I think I will be giving it a 4-5 star rating. I am hoping anyway. I think there is going to be some new developments, and more magic, so I am hoping for at least a 4.5!”

alex: “of course i hope, that this one will blow me away and i will give it five stars. but i also thought that about “crown of midnight” and i couldn’t do it because part one of that book felt too slow. and i also think, that “heir of fire” will be the same, since there is some change in the story. i think, i will enjoy it a lot and in the end give it 4.5 stars.”

2.) Since Celaena is going on a journey in this book, are you ready for new characters?

adrienne: “I don’t know if I am ready for new characters. I wanted things resolved with her and Chaol. I guess we will have to be. I expect new characters since she is traveling somewhere new and facing new problems. I just hope the new characters fit.”

alex: “honestly, i don’t know if i am. i am really invested in the lives of celaena, dorian and chaol. obviously. i don’t know if i am ready to let that go and go on a complete different path. it could work out, but it also could go very, very wrong.”

3.) What do you expect from Chaol and Dorian in “Heir of Fire”?

adrienne: “I am almost wondering if Chaol and Dorian will be put on hold in this book. With Celaena traveling somewhere new, we may not get any story with them. I think there will be tension between them if they do show up, though. There is no way Dorian’s feelings are completely gone.”

alex:i expect, that they will interact more with each other. i think it’s going to be weird between them, but i think they will talk a lot, especially about celaena. and even though it’s breaking my heart, i have a feeling that we will see a lot less from them.”

adrienne will also have up a post with her questions for me, so don’t miss that one! i hope some people are joining us in the discussion! have a great reading week 🙂

“crown of midnight” review & buddy read discussion – part II (spoilers ahead)

hello wonderful bookoholics ❤ i am sorry, that i haven’t been that active lately, but i have such a crazy schedule, that i am not able to keep up with my blog stuff. i guess that’s life! but what happened, is that i finished “crown of midnight” by sarah j. maas – whooop whooop!!!

i’ve read “throne of glass”, the first book in the series, with my girl adrienne over  @darque dreamer reads and it was so much fun! we made a blog event out of it and did a q&a for each part of the book. and since we had so much fun, we decided to do it again for “crown of midnight”. this time my girl kathy @books & munches joined us in the readalong and will discuss the book with us in the comments. and of course there will be another q&a on adrienne’s blog, so don’t miss that one!

crownofmidnight2

here’s a short synopsis of “throne of glass”, if you haven’t read the book:

“throne of glass” is about 18 year old celaena, who was trained to be an assassin and ends up as a slave. she is freed by crown prince dorian to participate in a competition, where the winner becomes the new assassin of the royal family. celaena doesn’t think twice, because she wants her freedom. but with her being in that competition, things start to happen, that make her life complicated: friendships, feelings, killings, magic & mystery.

“crown of midnight” is the second book in the series. here are some of my stats:

title: crown of midnight
author: sarah j. maas
genre: ya fantasy
type: hardback
pages: 418 pages
start: 22.10.2017
finish: 26.10.2017
rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25

before i get into my review, i want to share our q&a with you. again, be warned, that THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!! 😀

1.) 1hat was your first thought, when you found out, that celaena is aelin?

adrienne: “My first thought was that I was not surprised and that I hoped she kicked the king’s butt! I think we all knew this was coming.”

alex: “NO F***ING WAY!!!!” my mind was blown. i totally couldn’t take it all in and i had to go back the last pages and read them again. i had no idea and it was like: WHAAAAT???!!! but i am really, really happy about the revelation and so excited what sarah j. maas is going to do.”

2.) any thoughts on celaena’s last words to chaol?

adrienne: “I am assuming the date she gave him is what lead him to discover her true identity.”

alex: “my heart. my pooooooor heart. i cried. honestly. of course i thought about what she said and what it would mean. but in the back of my head i just had ‘i’ll always pick you.’ my heart. OMG, i love those two!!!!! she needs to get back together with him!!!!”

3.) what did you think of celaena’s behavior after everything that happened with nehemias?

adrienne: “I think Celaena was justified in her behavior after Nehemia’s death. I am so glad that she went full assassin mode and kicked some ass!”

alex: “to some extent, i could understand her feelings and everything she did. i mean, nehemia was her best female friend and she had some secrets and celaena wanted to keep her safe. but it was all taken from her. so i could understand, that she had no feelings left to feel. but on the other hand, there was chaol. and i love chaol and he didn’t deserve that behavior, because it was not his fault. HE DID NOT DESERVE THIS!!!! and my heart broke. really. i was devastated! but i was also happy, that the action picked up and celaena became the assassin everybody knew she was.”

4.) what did you like about this book? what didn’t you like?

adrienne: “I liked the twists and turns in this book. I think I disliked the predictability a little bit though. There were a lot of nice unpredictable moments, but a few moments that I saw coming that I wished had been twisted.”

alex: “best thing: chaol and celaena. the whole action in part two was amazing, because i was constantly on edge. i had all the feels and i loved that about the second part. the first part on the other hand was just because of chaol and celaena. but not much happened. it was to slow for me. i think the end of part one should have come way sooner.”

5.) what do you think will happen in “heir of fire”?

darque dreamer: “I hope Celaena will meet up with her family and learn how to use her powers. i am also hoping we find out more about Dorian and his magic.

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i have no idea. the events in this book are totally not predictable to me. so i will just take it in. but i hope, that we don’t just get celaena’s point of view. i want to be on this adventure with her and learn more about her, but i also want to know, how chaol will react and also what will happen with dorian. this could be exciting!”

soooo, that was our q&a! how did you like being part of our journey? did you have the same feelings while reading this book? what did you think? let us know in the comments.

from my rating you might get the feeling, that i didn’t like “crown of midnight” as much as “throne of glass”. here’s the thing. i really, really like this series and i will definitely continue with it. i am totally becoming part of the fandom. yes, give me more. but i really had the feeling, that the first part was too slow. i wanted more to happen. of course you know, that i love chaol and celaena but there should have been more. all the feelings, everything that i felt during the second part, all those emotions, should have been throughout the whole book. i know, that there is more possible, the second part showed it and therefore i was a little disappointed with part one. i know, that there will probably come a book, where i have all the feels all the time, but “crown of midnight” wasn’t it.

all in all, i loved all the developments. i was sad about nehemia, but i also think, that it fit very well into the story. that was good. celaena needed to feel that to become who she is now. and now new adventures are waiting for her, which i am really looking forward to! dorians development was also great. i never thought, that this would happen, but i really like it. i want to see more magic from him and of course i want to see, how this will influence his relationship to his father. i want a lot of conflicts here. and then there is chaol. my chaol. you may know by now, that i love that guy. i hope it stays that way and nothing happens to him.

i definitely like this series and i can’t wait to read “heir of fire” very soon. 🙂

“crown of midnight” – buddy read discussion – part I (spoilers ahead)

happy wednesday lovely bookoholics ❤ it’s the middle of the week and time to update you on our reading of “crown of midnight” by sarah j. maas. as you may know, my girls darque dreamer @darque dreamer reads and kathy @books & munches are doing a readalong for the second book in the “throne of glass” series. we made it through part one and of course we have a q&a for you prepared. discuss with us in the comments. but be aware, if you haven’t read the book! there will be spoilers!

crownofmidnight2

here’s a short synopsis of “throne of glass”, if you haven’t read the book:

throne of glass” is about 18 year old celaena, who was trained to be an assassin and ends up as a slave. she is freed by crown prince dorian to participate in a competition, where the winner becomes the new assassin of the royal family. celaena doesn’t think twice, because she wants her freedom. but with her being in that competition, things start to happen, that make her life complicated: friendships, feelings, killings, magic & mystery.

1.) what do you think of celaena and chaol so far and what will nehemia’s fate mean for them?

darque dreamer: “I am actually loving Celaena and Chaol’s interaction for all of part 1!! I was getting super suspicious of Nehemia and I am afraid her fate is going to tear them apart!”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i love celaena and chaol. i really do. chaol definitely became my favorite and i want him instead of dorian next to celaena. sarah j. maas just did it the way, that i couldn’t help falling in love with those two. i need them to be together. but it’s too good to be true. it’s too early that this is happening and i know, that my heart will break. especially after what happened with nehemia. this means bad trouble. and i hate it. i will suffer, so bad.”

2.) what do you think is up with dorian and magic?

darque dreamer: “I am assuming that Dorian has suppressed magic somehow. I have a theory that it may be possible he and Celaena are related…”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i am definitely thinking the same thing. i always had a feeling in book one, that celaena and dorian were related. actually i somehow wanted them to be. but we’ll see. i definitely think, that magic is involved in dorian’s life and this will also mean something bad, since his dad banned all magic. this will be a mess. and i am excited for it. :D”

3.) what did you like most about part 1 and what did you like least?

darque dreamer: “I love the turn of events with Chaol and Celaena so far and I am so upset about the ending of part 1!!”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “celaena and chaol are definitely my highlight of part 1. i just love them together. but i also liked, that celaena couldn’t get through with the assassinations. i knew she couldn’t. i knew there was more to it and i am so happy, that i was right. the one thing i did not like is, that i had the feeling, this first part dragged a bit. somehow not that much happened and i was a little disappointed about that. of course a lot happened between celaena and chaol, but i missed some other things.”

that was our q&a for the first part of “crown of midnight”. what do you think? do you agree with our answers? anything you want to add? NO SPOILERS PLEASE! 😀

as for my expectations for part two in the book. i definitely think, that it will get dark. very dark. after part one, all the feelings will change, i am sure of it. and it already breaks my heart. but i am happy too, because i think it will definitely pick up the pace and i kind of want a lot of action and revalations now. oh my, i have a feeling, that part two will be sooooo good. and i hope, i will make it through without my heart breaking.

there will be a q&a on darque dreamer’s blog, so head over there to discuss more with us! the next post will be our final q&a and review for the whole book on sunday! don’t miss it 🙂

let’s do this – “crown of midnight” by sarah j. maas

hi fellow bookoholics! ❤ do you know what time it is? that’s right! it’s time to continue with the “throne of glass” series by sarah. j. maas! whoooop whooop!! 🙂

the wonderful and amazing darque dreamer over @darque dreamer reads and i started a readalong for the first book back in august and we made a blog event out of it. and it was SO. MUCH. FUN!!!! ❤ so of course we wanted to read the rest of the series together. now it’s time to continue and as of today, we will  be reading “crown of midnight”, the second book in the series. i bought the hardcover edition, because i just love those hardcovers and i want to own them all.

crownofmidnight2

this time we have a special guest joining our readalong and i couldn’t be more happy about it. my girl kathy over @books & munches is joining us, yay!!!  i hope she’ll be having a lot of fun with us and i can’t wait for the discussions with those girls. ❤

here’s a short synopsis of “throne of glass”, if you haven’t read the book:

throne of glass” is about 18 year old celaena, who was trained to be an assassin and ends up as a slave. she is freed by crown prince dorian to participate in a competition, where the winner becomes the new assassin of the royal family. celaena doesn’t think twice, because she wants her freedom. but with her being in that competition, things start to happen, that make her life complicated: friendships, feelings, killings, magic & mystery.

as last time, darque dreamer and i will be doing three blog posts with some q&a. this one with our expectations for “crown of midnight”. the second one will be up in the middle of the week for part 1 of the book and next sunday you can read our review and thoughts for the whole book. so watch out for that. and of course i will be linking all of darque dreamers posts, as soon as they are up 🙂

so let’s start with our q&a. be aware, that we will be talking about book two in a series, so if you haven’t read book one, there will be spoilers!!!!

1.) What do you expect from “Crown of Midnight” in general?

darque dreamer: “I am expecting more of everything in general. I expect more violence, more action, more magic, more of the love triangle, and more of the political aspects with Nehemia.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “first of all i expect it to be as much fun as “throne of glass”. i was laughing a lot during the first book and i hope this will stay during the second book. but i also expect to get more information about the magic part and also some interesting scenes, since celaena is the king’s new champion now. i also hope the writing will be as good and the change of the perspectives as smooth as in book one.”

2.) What do you think is going to happen, now that Celeana is the new assassin for the royal family?

darque dreamer: “I think Celeana is going to be sent on a very immoral mission that will have her questioning her decision to stay.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i am not sure, that she will be able to do her job. i mean, yes, she killed people before, but i also think, that she will have problems, doing the job for the king. i know she hates him and doing such a cruel job, will be very problematic for her. and i am not sure, that she has it in her. i am really excited to find out, how she will behave in her new role. i don’t think she has it in her to just kill, because the kings wants it to.”

3.) What are your thoughts on the love triangle? Do you think, that Celaena will make a choice in “Crown of Midnight”?

darque dreamer: “I don’t think Celeana will make a choice in this book. I think it will drag on at least to book 3 of 4.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i reeeeeeeeeally hope, that she will make a choice, because i don’t want to be torn between dorian and chaol. i don’t want their hearts to break, and neither mine. but i have to agree with darque dreamer. i think it will drag on and take more time. and i don’t know, if i can do this.”

darque dreamer also asked me some questions, so head over to her blog to see my answers and discuss with us. also, if you want to read with us, just tell us in the comments. we’d be happy to have many people joining us 🙂

“throne of glass” review & buddy read discussion – part II (spoilers ahead)

happy sunday my lovely bookoholics! ❤ it’s done! it really is done! i have finished “throne of glass” by sarah j. maas. and before you read on, i need to tell you, that i really, really, reeeeeally enjoyed it! 😀

i’ve read the first book in the series with the bestest of the best darque dreamer over @darquedreamerreads and it was so much fun! we made a blog event out of it and did a q&a for each part of the book. first our expectations, then our thoughts on part 1 and then a q&a for the second half of the book, which you can read below. we will definitely be reading the whole series together, so watch out for that! 😀

throneofglass

if you don’t know about the book, here is a quick synopsis.

“throne of glass” is the first book in the series. here are some of my stats:

title: throne of glass
author: sarah j. maas
genre: ya fantasy
type: paperback
pages: 405 pages
start: 27.08.2017
finish: 01.09.2017
rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

before i get into my review, i want to share our q&a with you. again, be warned, that THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!! 😀

1.) what do you think about the love triangle now after book 1?

darque dreamer: “I think the love triangle was well done. It was not distracting, it was not whiny or annoying, and I felt like it was a true fitting love triangle because Celaena was able to get close to both men, and of course there would be feelings developing for the two men that showed her compassion after her year of hell.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “it already kind of broke my heart. i really, really don’t know, which side i am on. i loved, how honest dorian was and i really think, that he developed strong feelings for celaena. but there is also chaol, whose feelings are also honest. he loves that girl. and she just doesn’t know. it’s so hard. i had a little bit of a feeling, that she was playing with them, but i really think, that she has too much on her plate and did the right decision in the end. but this was definitely not the end of the whole love triangle.”

2.) what are your thoughts on nehemia and her powers?

darque dreamer: “I had a feeling for a while that Nehemia had some sort of powers or knowledge of magic and the wyrdmarks. I really love that she tried to protect Celaena!!”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i am really happy about that. for a short time i had a feeling, that she is bad and everything was a game and she plotted against celaena. i was so happy, how it turned out and i loved the deep friendship. i want to see more of nehemias powers, because i think there is so much adventure waiting for us.”

3.) what part of the second half did you enjoy and what not?

darque dreamer: “I really loved the part where Dorian sees Celaena’s red candy teeth, lol! That was so cute and funny! I enjoyed the whole second half of the book and the only thing I disliked was psycho Kaltain poisoning Celaena, but we were meant to not like that, lol!”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i really enjoyed, that is was funny too. the book never lost this part and that made me really happy. i also enjoyed the whole scene with the ridderak, which caught me by surprise and i was on edge. the fight in the end was also executed very well in my opinion. there were three things i didn’t like. the whole ball scene was too much for me. the love drama was too much and i caught myself rolling my eyes (because yes, i do not like love triangles). i wanted action at that point and i got love drama and i didn’t enjoy it. the second thing was the resolution with the killer. i mean, it was executed well but it was obvious and i expected a bigger bang! i wanted it to be someone unexpected. but well, you can’t have it all. and the last thing that i did not like, was how easy celaena got drugged. i see why it was important, but she should have know better.”

4.) how do you feel about the revelation of the wyrdmarks?

darque dreamer: “I want to learn more about the wyrdmarks. I hope we get more history because that was a little vague. From what I understood, there were marks used for good and marks used for evil, and the marks could appear on people too. I hope we get more on that in the series!”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i really liked how they were explained. but i also think, that there is way more to it and that they will play a bigger part in the series. i want to see more and i am excited which creatures or who else will come from them.”

5.) will you read the next book and if so, what are you thoughts on a maybe rebellion?

darque dreamer: “I will definitely read the next book. Hopefully with you, lol! I don’t think book 2 will hold the rebellion, because I feel like its too soon. But, I feel like its coming in the future, and I think that Nehemia and the rebels deserve some justice. Down with the King!!

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “yeees, definitely. i liked the first book more than i thought and i want to know what’s going to happen. i want to see a big rebellion against the king and i want to see more magic and just in general, i want more! :D”

i hope, you liked our q&a’s and thanks so much for coming along with us and reading. it was so much fun. now, i want to share some more thoughts on the book, so here’s my little mini review:

first of all, yes, i am a fan now. i didn’t think i would be, but i am. i had so much fun reading this book, because well, it was fun. the humor came unexpected and i laughed so much. i mean, a book where the monthly cycle of an assassin is causing some trouble, come on! 😀 i also loved the candy scene and in general, this book has some great teasing and i laughed. i want more of that.

then there were all those feelings. the friendship between celaena and nehemia was wonderfully done. not just some action and the thought of betrayal. the saving, the honesty in the end, i loved every bit of it. i definitely want to see them side by side in the future. also all the feelings i got with that love triangle. i really hate them, but here, it just fits so good, because it seems honest. i was back and forth with my choice. who do i want her to be with? i really don’t know. i love them all equally and i was happy for two and sad for the others. and all changed within minutes. just please don’t let there be too much heartbreak.

as for the mystery and magic. it was done so well. it didn’t reveal too much, so that there is more to look forward too. i want to see celaena get magical powers and i want to see what elenas words mean. is there some relation, what will come in the future? so many questions i want answers to. and that just shows me, how well done this book is.

a big part, that i really liked, but which just came at the very end, was the involvement of the king. holy crap! that will be interesting. i had no idea, that the king was working on something with the duke. it totally caught me by surprise and i love when books do that to me! give me more!

all in all, “throne of glass” was very enjoyable. the writing was great, i absolutely had no problems following the story and also the change of the point of views was very well done! i enjoyed sarah j. maas’ writing and all my expectations were fulfilled.

if you want an action packed ya-fantasy with great character development, an interesting story, humor, feelings and a mystery, then “throne of glass” is perfect for you. sometimes the hype is true and thanks to my buddy read with darque dreamer, i enjoyed this first book even more. 🙂

thanks again for reading guys and let us know, what you thought of “throne of glass”. there is another q&a on darque dreamers blog, so go check it out.  🙂 and now for last: should we continue with the series? will you read it now? let us know!

darque dreamer and i talked about the first part of the book and i think that we both agree. we really enjoy this read and this series. down below will be another q&a between us, so keep reading. 🙂 you can also find a different q&a on darque dreamers blog, so head over there. we both are so happy, that we didn’t get spoiled for this book at all. as for me, i don’t know anything. i have no idea how it will develop, what’s going to happen and how the series continues. there is just one thing i know: after reaching the half point and if this book will continue like that, i will definitely be reading the rest of the series. i really enjoy this read and i never thought that i would enjoy it so much. i like the pace, the development, the characters. there’s mystery, there will probably be fantastical elements. what more do you want? 😀

let’s get to the q&a for the first part of the book. be aware, that there will be spoilers, so if you haven’t read the book, YOU ARE WARNED!! 😀

1.) what’ your favorite part so far?

darque dreamer: “My favorite part so far is when Celaena and Nehemia meet for the first time and are having their own conversation. It’s so funny that an assassin can get along so with with someone of royalty, and it was funny that they both were talking about Lady Kaltain. I also loved when Celaena threw the flower pot at Lady Kaltain!!”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “my favorite part so far is definitely the mystery behind the killings of the champions. it’s so exciting, when you can start guessing and try putting things together. i love a good mystery and i am so curious to find out, what’s behind all that.”

2.) what role is magic going to play in the next half of the book? what do you guess?

darque dreamer: “My guess is that Celaena will recover her magic abilities and that someone will show up wielding magical abilities that will be a big twist in the plot.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “i am pretty sure, that celaena will get some magic abilities and she will use them in the fight of the champions.”

we talked about this one a little bit more and we both hope, that celaena will have some kick ass ability, that will surprise us a lot. i really want her to be badass and do some great magic. 😀

3.) what do you think about the “love triangle” so far?

darque dreamer: “Honestly, the love triangle has not gotten in the way yet, so it is pretty pleasant. I do have to say that it could potentially include Nox too. He has shown a lot of interest in Celaena.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “usually i really hate love triangles, but so far i am ok with it. i like celaena, dorian and chaol equally, so i am on no one’s side so far. i just hope that it won’t end up with a big heartbreak for someone or ruin friendships. but so far, i am managing well with the love triangle.”

4.) what surprised you the most so far?

darque dreamer: “I think what has surprised me the most so far is how well Celaena has fit in to the court lifestyle, and how moral she can be since she loves to kill.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “the biggest surprise for me is how much i am enjoying this book. and not just because of character development or pace or plot. all those things are really good so far. i am enjoying myself reading this. but the biggest surprise is the fun. i am laughing out loud so much and i never thought, that this would happen. there are so many great lines, that make me laugh and i love it. i hope it will continue that way.”

5.) how do you enjoy the writing and any thoughts on narration & POVs?

darque dreamer: “I am really enjoying the writing style so far. It has a good mix of past and present to set the tone and give good character and plot development, and it flows really nicely. I practically devoured the first half of the book!
I really like the way Maas has the multiple POV’s set up. It is not confusing when another POV starts and it gives more insight in to the story and the character thoughts.”

coffeeloving_bookoholic: “the writing is really good. there were never any passages where i was stuck. it’s easy to read and i i basically flew through the first half. as for narration and POV, i didn’t expect that it would be third person. but i don’t mind at all. also the changes between the POVs are smooth and you never loose your position in the book. so far, everything is positive.”

that was our q&a for the first part of “throne of glass”. what do you think? do you agree with our answers? anything you want to add? PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL US!!! 😀

as for me, i am really expecting a big bang in the second half of the book. i want to hear more about celaenas past and where she comes from, because i think magic is playing a huge part in her life and her families life. i want to see her getting a cool magical ability and kick ass 😀 as for the love triangle, please do not break any friendships. please don’t!

we also talked about dorian and his father and we both think, that there will be war! 😀

thanks so much for reading and coming along with us in our journey. as i said, there is another q&a for the first half of the book on darque dreamers blog, so just head over to her blog! 🙂
