top 5 wednesday is a weekly challenge where you can pick your top 5 for the topic of the week. you can find more information about it on goodreads.

this weeks topic is:
problematic faves
— Characters you don’t want to love, but you can’t help liking.

happy wednesday people! ❤ how are you all doing? this week’s topic could go either way. i am doing this spontanously 😀 we’ll see what comes out of it 😀

1.) joe goldberg from “you” by caroline kepnes

joe is a killer. he is a stalker. he is crazy. but i love him! i rooted for him during this book and i don’t even know why, because it’s wrong to root for him. but caroline kepnes wrote this book so well, that i couldn’t do otherwise. i didn’t like beck at all. it was all joe for me!

2.) aidan from “illuminae” by amie kaufman & jay kristoff

aidan is a computer. crazy computer. but i loooooved him! he was my favorite while reading “illuminae” at the beginning of the year!

3.) august flynn from “this savage song” & “our dark duet” by v.e. schwab

august is a monster. a very bad monster. but he also has a very human side. he wants to be a human. he doesn’t want to be bad. he wants to be good. and that’s what i love about him! he needs all the love there is! he’s a monster that can kill many many people, but i love him so much! 🙂

4.) kaz brekker from “six of crows” and “crooked kingdom” by leigh bardugo

i think i don’t need to tell you how much i love kaz. you all know it! and this guy is a thief. he is a criminal. he is a guy who doesn’t let anyone in. he is bad. but i love him. he is somebody i want to hug all the time! he had such a bad past and i cried while reading his story. i know why he is the way he is. but someone needs to give him some love. please let it be me! 😀

5.) ove from “a man called ove” by fredrik backman

ove is a grumpy old man. he is annoying, he is unfriendly, he says bad things. he is not likeable at all. but i love grumpy, old man. ok, that sounds wrong. but it is, how it is. my grandpa was a grumpy man, to most people. but to me he was always nice. he was the best person on earth. i loved him with all my heart. that’s why i have a special place for grumpy, old man in my heart. and ove hit that spot right from the start. his story is heartbreaking. i sobbed my eyes out and my love for him grew more and more throughout the book. hach, ove! 🙂 ❤

that is my list. it went surprisingly well haha 😀 let me know your characters, that you shouldn’t like but actually really love! 🙂

top 5 wednesday: books with paranormal creatures

top 5 wednesday is a weekly challenge where you can pick your top 5 for the topic of the week. you can find more information about it on goodreads.

this weeks topic is:
Books Featuring [paranormal creature of your choice]
— Here is the previously mentioned paranormal creature topic. This topic will revolve around one type of paranormal creature of your choice. So books featuring vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, demons, fae, zombies, etc.

here’s what you need to know! i have read way to less paranormal books or books about paranormal creatures. fantasy, paranormal is still a genre i am starting to dive into, so i don’t have a top five for each of these different creatures. that’s why my top five will be a mix of everything. yes, i am cheating, but it’s my list so i can do what i want 😀 😀 😀

1.) “the enemy” by charlie higson

i love zombies. i would always prefer zombies, i don’t know why. although i hate horror and hate being scared, i somehow like zombies. i refused to watch “the walking dead” for so long, but then i started it and binge watched almost the whole series. it was great! zombies are ok for me 😀 so, when i read “the enemy” by charlie higson i was pleasantly surprised. i enjoyed it a lot and i immediately read “the dead” after it. i haven’t continued with the series yet, but i know i will, when my mood for zombies is back 🙂

2.) “throne of glass” by sarah j. maas

i have read “throne of glass” in august and i loved it. i had so much fun. there is definitely some magic/fae thing going on, which i don’t know yet, but i am very excited to find out. on sunday i will be starting my readalong for “crown of midnight” with the wonderful darque dreamer and i can’t wait to see, where the story goes.

3.) “this savage song” & “our dark duet” by v.e. schwab

there are so many monsters in the “monsters of verity” series by v.e. schwab and it’s dark and creepy, but i loved this duology! it’s so much fun and the story is amazing. the writing is exceptional and i will always be a fan of it! definitely need to reread it at some point!

4.) “twilight” by stephenie meyer

yes, i need to put “twilight” by stephenie meyer on this list. first of all, it has vampires and werewolves in it. secondly, so far i still have the opinion that i liked this series. i have read it ages ago but i loved it back then. it was totally addicting and i rushed through all the books in one go. so yeah, i enjoyed it. i know, many people say it’s trash and maybe it is but i can’t say that until i have read it again. now, after so many books later, i can maybe make a different opinion on this series, but so far, i just can say, that i loved it. and so did everybody else. i know it. it wasn’t successful for no reason.

5.) “the girl with all the gifts” by m.r. carey

now, i won’t lie. this book made it very hard for me. i started it three times. the first time i have read the first 50 pages and put it away. the second time the same thing happened. i was almost at the point of dnfing it. but i didn’t. i tried a third time and i am so happy i did, because it picks up. it really does. after reaching a certain point, i couldn’t put it down, because it was thrilling and a great story. i encourage everybody to go through with it, because it’s a really good book. zombie time guys! 😀

so that’s my list. i know it’s not much and at some point in the future my list could be completely different. but that’s what you get right now! 😀 have you read these books? which paranormal creatures are your favorite? let me know! 🙂
