book tag: amazon’s “100 books to read in a lifetime” tag

hello lovely blogger friends! today i am coming with a book tag. i haven’t done one of those in quite a while and now it’s time. πŸ˜€
thank you so much noriko from diary of a bookfiend for tagging me. i really love lists and seeing how i am doing. so this was definitely a tag that i needed to do for myself haha. let’s get to the list. i’m very curious to find out myself, how many of amazon’s book list i managed to read so far. πŸ™‚

currently reading tag

happy thursday my lovelies ❀ how are you all doing? honestly, i can’t wait until this week is over haha! just two more days of work, yay! πŸ™‚

since i haven’t done a tag in a while (i think, my brain is just not working right now), i thought it’s time to catch up on some tags πŸ™‚ and i decided to do the “currently reading tag”. the wonderful and amazing destiny over @howling libraries tagged me to do it and yepp, i am doing it! please go check out her blog, because she is aaaawesome!! ❀

1.) how many books do you usually read at once?

definitely three or more books. i always have an audiobook, a classic, a novel and sometimes an ebook.

2.) if you’re reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?

i listen to my audiobook when i am walking or cleaning the apartment, which is way more fun that way. i mostly read one classic per month. so i divide the chapters and then do my daily reading of it, so i will be done in one month. then i have my main novel, that i pick up, when i have done my daily reading of the classic. and sometimes i also read an ebook on my kindle, because i love reading in bed before going to sleep. all lights out and just the ebook and me. after that i can sleep so well. πŸ™‚

3.) do you ever switch bookmarks while you’re partway through a book?

no, i don’t. and i often don’t use booksmarks at all. the thing is, my booksmarks are all over the place and when i am reading a book and need to stop, i pick up the next thing laying next to me. if it’s a bookmark, i use that. if it’s my sticky notes, i use that. if it’s a piece of paper or a postcard i use that. and that stays with me throughout the whole book.

4.) where do you keep the book(s) you’re currently reading?

always next to my bed. i love reading in my bed but the last weeks i rediscovered my couch and i am reading there as well. but i always take the books with me to my bedroom and place them on my drawer. so i have them always close πŸ™‚ my ebook is mostly under my pillow πŸ˜€

5.) what time of day do you spend the most time reading?

depends on my day. currently i am very busy at work and before work i have to sit cats for a friend. so i take a walk there every morning and listen to my audiobook. depending on my workload and plans in the evening, i read after work at home. on the weekends i can basically read all day. i love waking up and reading in bed for a while, which isn’t possible right now, but then i read in the afternoon after all my chores are done. in a “normal” week, i read in the evenings after work.

6.) how long do you typically read in one sitting?

this also depends on my day. if i have stuff to do, i won’t read long in one sitting. but on the weekends, after i have done all there is to do, i can read for hours in one sitting. it’s the best thing ever!

7.) do you read hardbacks with the dust jacket on or off?

i disovered hardbacks this year for me. i was always a paperback person, but somehow i had many hardbacks to read and i fell in love with them. they are so pretty! ❀ but i always take the dust jacket off and place it in my drawer, because otherwise my cats would destroy it πŸ˜€

8.) what position do you mainly use to read?

half laying πŸ˜€ i have a reading pillow which is very good for my back so i use this. but while reading i am slowly sliding down that pillow, so i end up reading laying down πŸ˜€

9.) do you take the book you’re currently reading with you everywhere you go?

no i don’t. but it depends. if it’s a normal work day, i leave it at home, because i know, that i won’t be able to read, so i don’t take it with me. if i have an appointment, i always bring my book with me, because you never know, when you’ll have time. the only thing, that’s always with me is my audiobook.

10.) how often do you update your goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?

ha, very good question. i try to update it as much as possible. but mostly i end up doing it before i do my www wednesday post. and also after i have finished a book, because i forget to mark it as currently reading. i am lazy. i am a very lazy person πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

that was my currently reading tag. i won’t tag anybody, because i am busy and lazy. πŸ˜€ if you want to do the tag, then please feel free! πŸ™‚

finally fall book tag

happy monday fellow bookoholics! ❀ how was your weekend? did you have a good reading time? i will have a busy week this week, that’s why i decided to do another tag. πŸ˜€ and since it’s fall i will do another fall book tag, yay me! πŸ˜€

this tag was originally created by Tall Tales on booktube. let’s start, shall we?

1.) in fall, the air is crisp and clear: name a book with a vivid setting!

well, there is no surprise, that i am picking the “shades of magic” series by v.e. schwab. i mean, come on! and there is not just one setting, there are basically four settings. all of different londons. hell, yeah! πŸ˜€

2.) nature is beautiful… but also dying: name a book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief.

i need to pick “words in deep blue” by cath crowleyfor this! first of all, look at the cover. such great colors, they remind me of oceans! ❀ i love the water! but this book goes so deep and deals with grief, but in such a wonderful way. i just love this book so much!!

3.) fall is back to school season: share a non-fiction book that taught you something new

i do not read many non-fiction books, but i flew through this one! i am very fascinated with universe and stars and all that stuff, so this book was just awesome. although it’s older, it still blew my mind and i learned a lot! i totally recommend it to people who are interested in galaxies and all that stuff way up above, or beyond or next to us πŸ˜€

4.) in order to keep warm, it’s good to spend some time with the people we love: name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you’d like to be a part of

even though i just read the first book in the “harry potter” series, i loved the friendship between harry, hermione and ron. i think it would have been so much fun to be part of their group and go on those adventures. and i mean hogwarts itself as a setting. count me in! πŸ˜€

5.) the colourful leaves are piling up on the ground: show us a pile of fall-colored spines!

(still need to read all of those πŸ˜€ )

6.) fall is the perfect time for some storytelling by the fireside: share a book wherein somebody is telling a story.

Wuthering Heights

let’s go with a classic here. first of all, look at that cover! i love the penguin english library editions! ❀ when i started reading “wuthering heights” by emily bronte i was very surprised that it was basically someone telling a story. i wasn’t the biggest fan of that, because i wasn’t sure who the narrator was all the time, but well, it is how it is right? πŸ˜€

7.) the nights are getting darker: share a dark, creepy read.

“you” by caroline kepnes is really creepy! first of all it’s about a serial killer. second of all, it’s in second person perspective, so it’s directed at the reader. and i loved that part, because it made the book so much creepier. but in all honesty, i loved this book. i even rooted for joe, which is completely wrong. i just couldn’t help it. kepnes did an amazing job here!

8.) the days are getting colder: name a short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day

i think “the perks of being a wallflower” by stephen chbosky is an amazing choice for a rainy day! it’s a fast read but it’s also a great book with great characters and a heart-breaking and warming story.

9.) fall returns every year: name an old favourite that you’d like to return to soon

i really want to pick up “the curious incident of the dog in the night-time” by mark haddon soon. it’s been years, since i have read this and i’ve been seeing it everywhere lately and want to pick it up soon! πŸ™‚

10.) fall is the perfect time for cozy reading nights: share your favourite cozy reading “accessories”!

my warm and fuzzy socks! my sweatpants and large hoodie! one of my many blankets and pillows. candles and tea! give me all of that and i am the happiest person on earth! ❀ πŸ˜€

i’m not gonna tag anyone, but if you are in the fall mood, then feel free to do this tag! πŸ™‚

omg this song book tag

happy saturday lovely people! ❀ how are you all doing today? any reading plans for this weekend?

i decided to do another book tag today and i was looking for something fun to do. i watched the “omg this song book tag” a couple of times on booktube now and i always loved it. the good thing is, doing it on the blog means, i don’t have to sing it hahaha. which is better, believe me! but i am excited to share some awesome songs with you and the relating books. this tag was originally created by katesbookdate.

1.) MY JAM – a song you MUST listen to every time it comes on, no matter how old or how many times you’ve listened to it / a book you’ll never get sick of

i LOVE coldplay! it’s one of my favorite bands of all time. i have been to two of their concerts and i had the best time ever! chris martin just warms my heart and i have a crush on him since a very long time πŸ˜€ “yellow” is a very emotional song and i could listen to it all the time. it’s a slow song, but it’s still one of my favorite songs ever.

the book i’ll never get sick of is of course “the fault in our stars” by john green. you guys know, how much i love this book. i think i’ll never get sick of it. (but maybe you’ll get sick of me talking about it πŸ˜€ )

2.) THROWBACK – a song that reminds you of the cringest time of your life / a book that also reminds you of this time (or just something you wouldn’t like as much if you picked it up for the first time now)

i can’t decide between those two songs. i really can’t, because they are both important. i know, that many people know mumford & sons. i love them. also one of my favorite bands. i have seen them live four times now. i was lucky enough to touch marcus (*fangirlmoment*) and “white blank page” will always be my favorite song by them. even though it reminds me of a not so good time in my life. now, i don’t know if anyone knows the other song. it’s called “the honest truth” by typhoon. this song was played in one of the episodes of the tv series “chuck”, which is one of my favorite shows. and the soundtrack also plays a huge part in this. but this song, i love it. so much. and then somehow the lyrics became true at some point, when i was going through this time in my life. i don’t know, it was my song of truth. so yeah, these are the two songs i will always think of it, when that time of my life comes to mind.

i haven’t read “twilight” by stephenie meyer at that time of my life, but i chose it, because i am not sure, if i would enjoy it now the same way i did when i read it years ago. but you never know, until you know, you know? πŸ˜€

3.) REPLAY – a recent song you have on repeat right now / a recent favorite book

omg, i love this song by harry styles (i enjoy his whole album btw). since the first time, i have heard it, it’s on my playlist and i can’t stop listening to it. it’s amazing. i love the melody, i love how emotional it gets in the end and i love how it makes me sing all the time. you should see my cats at home, when i am in my “sign of the times” phase πŸ˜€

my last 5 star read was “harry potter and the philosopher’s stone” by j.k. rowling and i loved it. i enjoyed it so much, reading it for the first time. i can’t wait to get to “the chamber of secrets”. ❀

4.) GETS ME – this song IS ME / this book is me in book form

i have so many songs, that could describe me. believe me, i have an “alex”-playlist on my phone with songs, that expresses, what i feel, what i am. but i am going to choose “divisionary (do the right thing)” by ages and ages. this song is so, so, so good. and it’s positive. it’s about not letting yourself get down by other people. no matter what they are doing. just get out, leave them behind and always do the right thing. i learned pretty early in life, that you should never waste your time on people, who want bad things for you. just leave them behind and feel good. and that song represents that for me.

choosing a book is harder for me, because i never read about a character that is completely me. i see some things of me in different characters, but never the whole me. and since eliza from “eliza and her monsters” by francesca zappia lives in an online world, i chose her, because so do i. most of my friends are spread in the whole world, so communicating with them isn’t that easy. fortunately, there is technology that makes it easier for us, which i am so happy about. i am online pretty much all of the time and i love all my friends around the world. i am pretty lucky in that way and that’s why i could connect with eliza so well, when she defended her online friendships. when it comes to the anxiety part, i am not eliza, i am just referring to living in an online world.

5.) WUT – weird but I like it? – a unique book that stuck out to you for whatever reason

yes, yes, yes! gimme some “under pressure” by queen and david bowie. omg i love that song. it’s totally weird and funny and strange and i love everything about it. makes me wanna dance all the time. mm ba ba de, um bum ba de πŸ˜€ (every queen song does btw. honorable mention to “bohemian rhapsody”)

“you” by caroline kepnes is definitely a book that stood out to me. it’s written in second person perspective, so it’s directed straight at the reader, which is creepy considering, that you’re reading the thoughts of a serial killer. but boy did i like it. this book is so, so, so good. i really liked it, especially the main character, although it’s weird that i did. πŸ˜€

6.) LET’S GO – best pump up song (for workouts or just life) – a book that inspired you

a few years ago i went through a huge jogging phase. i was running almost every day until i couldn’t do it anymore, because my knees are shit. but i remember always having “new born” by muse on in the end of my playlist, because it really made me run the last minutes with a lot of energy. i love muse in general, when it comes to get off some anger. these guys are awesome and if you ever get the chance to see them live, do it. their shows are amazing!

after reading “they both die at the end” i was hopeful. yes, of course i was sad, because the main characters have a bad ending. but their story inspired me so much. mateo is a character, that i also wanted to put as my answer for question number 4. i could relate so much to him and i loved, how he just went out and lived. and that’s the message i am taking from this book. always live your life to the fullest. i love it, when books inspire me to do so, because as we all know it, sometimes we just forget to do it.

7.) CHILL – fav chill, relaxing song / a book you’d curl up with and read on a rainy day

there is just one song that is chill and relaxing and that’s “somewhere over the rainbow”. this song and i have a long history together. it was with me in so many places and omg i just love it so much. it will always be one of the top 10 favorite songs of my life and i listen to it, when i feel sad or need some cheering up or when the sun is shining and i am lying in the park. this song is just always perfect.

i think “to all the boys i’ve loved before” by jenny han is a perfect read for a rainy day. it’s light and so much fun. the story is cute, the characters are great and it just makes you feel good. πŸ™‚

8.) ADDICTING – guilty pleasure song – one that’s catchy and addicting but not a whole lot of substance / guilty pleasure/trashy/fast/light read

hahaha, yes! i am outing myself as a robbie williams fan. this guy is awesome. i was always a fan and when he came back on tour this year, i had to go and it. was. AWESOME! this guy can definitely entertain and that’s why i chose his song “the heavy entertainment show”, because that song IS addicting. when his album was released i had that song on repeat because i liked it so much. (yes, i have a very unique music taste, live with it πŸ˜€ )

the last guilty pleasure read i had was “the thousandth floor” by katharine mcgee. this book was so much fun πŸ˜€ it was soooo much drama that it was ridiculous, but i could not put it down. it was so addicting and i really enjoyed it a lot.

9.) NOSTALGIA – throwback you look back on fondly / a book you read forever ago that you look back on fondly or reminds you of a happy childhood time

let me explain why i chose these two songs. you guys know, that i am a huge ireland fan. during one of my visits, my best friend and i went to a pub in dublin and there were those two guys doing a live session. and they sang so many great songs, the audience had so much fun. we had the best time. these guys were amazing and then they did a mash up between ed sheeran’s “thinking out loud” and sam smith’ “i’m not the only one”. i recorded the whole thing and until this day i watch this video, because i just loved it. it was the perfect moment, the perfect mix of these two songs and even writing about it gives me goosebumps. good times. great times.

i don’t have many books, that i read during my childhood, that’s why i decided to pick a book, i will always look back on fondly. earlier this year i read “kids of appetite” by david arnold and i loved it so much. it’s such a great story, wonderful characters and the writing is amazing. i will definitely reread it next year, because it gave me all the feels and i want to experience that again. πŸ™‚

omg, this tag was so much fun!! i think putting two of my favorite things in the world together, makes the best tag. i love books and i love music. music plays a very huge part in my life, because i connect so many memories, experiences, feelings to it. and connecting it to books is the best thing ever!

i do not tag anyone specific, but if you love music and books as much as i do, please do this tag. you will have a lot of fun! πŸ™‚

falltime cozy time book tag

happy friday my lovely bookoholics ❀ weekend is almost here and i can’t wait. on sunday my readalong for “crown of midnight” by sarah j. maas will start. the wonderful darque dreamer over @darque dreamer reads and i will be doing another blog event, so watch out for our posts. we are very happy to announce, that my girl kathy over @books & munches will be joining us for the readalong. i can’t wait. best times with my best girls ❀

ok, enough with all the love, because i will get emotional πŸ˜€ so, for this friday, i thought i will do another tag. i was recently tagged by abbey over @three cats and a girl to do the falltime cozy time book tag. thank you so much! πŸ™‚ this tag was originally created by sam from sam’s nonsense on booktube.

1.) crunching leaves: the world is full of color – choose a book that has reds/oranges/yellows on the cover

i recently did a top ten tuesday post about autumn covers, but since i am starting my readalong soon, i thought “crown of midnight” was appropriate πŸ˜€

2.) cozy sweater – it’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing: what book gives you the warm fuzzies?

i’m gonna go with “geekerella” by ashley poston. i really loved this cute story. it made me happy and i had so much fun reading it! and see, there’s a pumpkin. autumn time! πŸ˜€

3.) fall storm: the wind is howling & the rain is pounding – choose your favorite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day

since i am a mood reader and i can read pretty much anything every time, i do not choose specific books for different weather. a week ago i probably would have said, that contemporary is always a good go, but now i have read the first “harry potter” book and i think that would be a perfect choice for a rainy and stormy day, because it just makes you feel warm and cozy. πŸ™‚

4.) cool crisp air: what’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

hands down lila bard. i mean she is an awesome and badass and cool character. but also, she is close to kell. and all the londons. and she can do stuff. come on, let me be her?! πŸ˜€

5.) hot apple cider: what under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

i don’t see “words in deep blue” by cath crowley around much. i haven’t seen it on bookstagram or booktube and it’s such a shame. because this book is just amazing!!!! ❀ ❀ ❀

6.) coat, scarves, and mittens – the weather has turned cold & it’s time to cover up – what’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

i honestly have no idea. i don’t think i own any embarrasing covers…

7.) pumpkin spice: what’s your favorite fall time comforts food/foods?

ok, i have to admit something. just a few weeks ago i tried the pumpkin spice latte at starbucks and OMG i love it. i have been drinking it everytime i passed a starbucks. it’s just so good. i had no idea what i was missing out! πŸ˜€ also, just any tea. i think tea in fall time is amazing. a candle, a good book and tea, best way to spent an evening!! ❀

8.) warm, cozy bonfire: spread the cozy warmth – who do you tag?

the book blogger test tag

it’s weeeeekend!!! yay!!! at this moment i will probably taking a nap, or reading in my bed or whatever! but i will definitely be relaxing the hell out of this weekend. i need that! but first, let’s do this tag, because it’s such a cool tag and i love that my wonderful girl naty over @naty’s bookshelf tagged me in this!!! naty is just awesome! she’s so kind and great, there is nothing more to say. so of course you need to check out her blog! ❀

the rules:

  • thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog
  • answer the ten questions asked on this post
  • nominate at least five people to do it also

1.) top 3 book pet hates

  • i really don’t like mass market paperbacks. i would always prefer a different edition than the mass market paperback. and it makes me mad, that these editions are the cheapest. (only exception: the “outlander” series by diana gabaldon)
  • the font. there is one font that i hate. i just can’t read it well. in a bookstore i always look for it, and if the book has that font, i don’t buy the book. and if you want to know which one it is, the uk paperback edition of “a darker shade of magic” by v.e. schwab has that font. that’s why i never bought those books. i paid a lot of money to have the us hardcovers, which are way prettier in my opinion. but yeah, as you can see, i won’t buy a book with that font πŸ˜€
  • i am not the biggest fan of people on the cover. i don’t know what it’s about books with people on the cover, but i always prefer other covers. and don’t kill me, but i love the “tower of dawn” cover so much more than the other covers, with the person on the front. yepp, unpopular opinion here πŸ˜€

2.) perfect reading spot

that is soooo easy. my bed. always my bed. i got a new bed at the beginning of this year and i just can’t get out of it! i even put my bookshelves in my living room, so that i would read on the couch and get out of the bedroom, but no way, it didn’t work. i am basically just in the living room, when i want to get to the balcony or grab some books. and that’s a pity, because my living room is huge and cute but it doesn’t have my bed… πŸ˜€

3.) three book confessions

  • i crack the spine, i write in the books, i dog ear pages, i mark, i tab, i do all those things to my books. sue me!
  • my goodreads isn’t updated, because i am scared to see, how huge my physical tbr is πŸ˜€

4.) last time you cried reading a book

although tears came during “autoboyography” by christina lauren, “words in deep blue” by cath crowley was the last book where the tears were streaming down my face!!! like big time!

5.) number of books on your bedside table

just two ha! but i won’t talk about the books on my shelf further away from my bed πŸ˜€

6.) favorite reading snack

chips, chips and always chips! forever and ever and ever! πŸ˜€

7.) three books you’d recommend to anyone

janeeyrepurple martian AManCalledOve

i specifically didn’t pick any young adult books. why? i even don’t know myself hahaha. as for a classic, i would always recommend “jane eyre” by charlotte bronte. i love it. as for a sci-fi i will always be going with “the martian” by andy weir, because that book is sooooooo amazing and funny and it has mark watney. ❀ and as for contemporary fiction, i will go with “a man called ove” by fredrik backman, because i love ove and this is such a beautiful story, that broke me. i cried like a baby and i felt all emotions. so beautiful!

8.) a picture of your favorite bookshelf

never pick a favorite child, right? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

9.) how much books mean to you (in three words)

books are everything!

10.) biggest reading secret

i still have a book on my shelf, that belongs to a person, i haven’t seen in over 12 years…

i tag:

i would also tag kathy from books & munches, but she’ll probably kill me, so i specifically won’t tag her! πŸ˜€

the music book tag

wohoooo, it’s friday!!! which means, the weekend is coming! ❀ i can’t wait! also, it’s friday 13th and i love the 13th. it’s my number. πŸ˜€ and to celebrate this wonderful day, i wanted to do another tag! i will be doing “the music book tag”, which combines two of my favorite things: music & books. yay!! thank you so much to the wonderful charlotte annelise for tagging me! if you don’t know her, please go check out her blog! she’s an awesome person and deserves all the love! πŸ™‚

the rules:

  • link back to me asΒ bookchanted, as the creator of the tag. i want to read your answers y’all!!
  • you can use the graphics if you want
  • tag at least four other people!
  • HAVE FUN!!!!

1.) ed sheeran: an adorable book that left you feeling warm and fuzzy

i could probably list so many ya contemporaries here, but i am going with “the sun is also a star” by nicola yoon! i loved this book. it was such a cute story with wonderful characters and it made me happy while reading it.

2.) taylor swift: a book with way too much drama to keep track of

if you want drama in the style of “gossip girl”, then please read “the thousandth floor” by katharine mcgee. this book is a guilty pleasure for me, because i enjoyed the drama so much! πŸ˜€

3.) zayn malik: the broody, mysterious character you totally fell for

no surprise here, right? you all know, that i love kaz from “six of crows” by leigh bardugo with all of my heart! ❀

4.) jelena: a ship you really wanted but it never sailed

i honestly have no answer for that. i am shocked myself!! :O

5.) fall out boy: a series that just keep getting better and better

i know, that “the nevernight chronicle” by jay kristoff isn’t done yet! but, i am pretty sure, that mr. kristoff won’t disappoint! i loved “nevernight”. but “godsgrave” was better. and now there is just one more thing to top that. the ending! give it to me please!!!!!!!

6.) halsey/demi lovato: a badass female character you really admire

you all know, that i wasn’t the biggest fan of “the long way to a small angry planet” by becky chambers. but i was a huge fan of kizzy! that character is phenomenal! she is smart and strong and has amazing skills. and most of all she is funny and made me laugh so much! i love that girl!

7.) one direction: the romantic, cheesy book you couldn’t help but love

i really enjoyed the “to all the boys i’ve loved before” series by jenny han. it was fun, it was cheesy, it was romantic, it was just so cute! πŸ™‚

8.) adele: a book that delivers a really powerful message

i was pretty shook after reading “thirteen reasons why” by jay asher. even more after watching the series on netflix. it’s a powerful book/series. you never know what your actions are going to do to other people. you never know, how you affect them and you never know what the consequences can be!

9.) miley cyrus: a book/series that exceeded your expectations

i am going with a classic here. i did hear a few things about “jane eyre” by charlotte bronte before going into this book. but i also knew, that it was a classic and i was kind of scared of it, because it is huge. what i didn’t expect, is, that i would love this book so much! i love the story, i enjoyed reading it and i flew through it!! it’s an amazing book and i am so happy, that i read it, because it’s my favorite classic so far! πŸ™‚

10.) katy perry: a book/series that didn’t live up to the hype

first of all, i love rainbow rowell. i love her books and her stories. that’s why i was so eager to read “eleanor & park”, because this was everyone’s favorite book by her. but no, i just have to say know. i had trouble while reading this book, because i couldn’t connect with eleanor at all. i don’t know what it was, but this book was just not for me!

i tag:
