happy friday guys!! it’s almost weekend, we almost made it! 🙂 i can’t wait. these past few weeks were so busy and i just want to relax and go book shopping with my best book buddy! it will be amazing. 🙂
since i was so busy last month, i wasn’t able to read a lot. but that is ok. i don’t want to force myself to reading and if my body tells me no, i know that i need to listen to it. so everything is good. all in all i read six books, almost seven and i am totally fine with that. let’s get to my wrap up. 🙂
female authors: 2
male authors: 3
1.) every heart a doorway
title: every heart a doorway
author: seanan mcguire
honestly, i expected something completely different. i don’t know why but i was very surprised with this read. i liked the writing and how much content was put into such a short book. but the mystery totally surprised me and i didn’t like that part.
2.) if you dare
title: if you dare
author: a.r. torre
after reading “do not disturb” i had very low expectations going into “if you dare”. but i was pleasantly surprised with the last book in the “deanna madden” series. i enjoyed the plot and the characters and i thought it was a very good conclusion of the series.
3.) aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe
title: aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe
author: benjamin alire sáenz
this book hit me so hard. i loved everything about it. the characters and friendships were amazing. the parents were great. the coming of age story was great. it was just a great book and i loved everything. read my full review here
4.) more than this
title: more than this
author: patrick ness
i love books by patrick ness. why, because he messes with my head. maybe he should have named himself patrick mess. just kidding 😀 😀 😀 this book was so weird, but in a good way, because i expected nothing and i was blown away about what happened. there were so many twists and in the end i really didn’t know what to think. it was so good.
5.) hard times
title: hard times
author: charles dickens
this was my first book in the great dickens project. and i have to say, that i was disappointed. the writing was great, which was the main reason, why this book got two stars. i enjoyed reading it, because of the way, dickens tells the story. the story itself was nothing for me. i didn’t like it and it was hard for me to enjoy it. the same goes for the characters. i couldn’t connect with a single one of them. it just didn’t click. let’s hope the next dickens will be better again.
6.) the inexplicable logic of my life
title: the inexplicable logic of my life
author: benjamin alire sáenz
after reading “ari & dante” i needed to read more by benjamin alire sáenz. my library had this book so i checked it out. it was supposed to come a month later, because there was a hold on it, but it just came to me and i am so glad. i am not going to lie. this book is hard. it deals a lot with grief and anger and it had passages, that were very hard for me to read. but the characters were amazing and i think i have never experienced such a great friendship in a book before. this was everything. of course i cried too. this was hard. i loved it. but not as much as “ari & dante”, that’s why i had to take half a star of the rating.
that was it guys. that’s my january wrap up. all in all i am really happy about what i read. each month will be different and january was busy. but these books were almost all great, so there is no reason to not be happy with my january reading.
how was your january? let me know in the comments! what was your favorite book?
