WWW wednesday #1 in 2018

hello my lovely blogger friends! how are you all doing? it’s time for the first www wednesday in 2018. i decided to do this every week, because it’s a great way for me to update you on my reading and hearing about what you are reading. and that’s why we are all here, right? 🙂 although i know, that there may be some weeks, where i don’t know what i want to read next, but i guess you won’t mind, right? 😀 i just decided not to care so much about tbrs and just read what i want to read. last year i put too much pressure on myself and i don’t want to stress myself out at all. so, let’s just get started, shall we? 🙂

www wednesday is hosted by sam on Taking on a World of Words. everyone can participate in answering the three questions below and posting a link on sams website or just answer the questions on her post, if you do not have a blog.

the three questions are:

1.) What are you currently reading?
2.) What did you recently finish reading?
3.) What do you think you’ll read next?

title: more than this
author: patrick ness
progress: 57/480 pages
status: i started this book on the weekend and it had me hooked right from the start, because it’s dark. i had no time continuing this so far, but i am pretty sure, that i will love it.

title: hard times
author: charles dickens
progress: 155/356 pages
status: last year i read all of jane austen’s novels and i loved that project so much, that i decided to do it again this year but with charles dickens. i want to read at least 5 books by him. and if you know the size of his books, you’ll know why just 5 haha. 😀 “hard times” is ok so far. i love dicken’s writing. but the story isn’t really one for me.

title: voyager
author: diana gabaldon
progress: 7%
status: in december i got the audiobook for “dragonfly in amber”, so that i could continue with the series. and i really liked it, so i decided to get the audiobook of “voyager” for january. i am only at the beginning but i already like “voyager” more. i’m curious to see where the story goes.

title: neverwhere
author: neil gaiman
progress: 37%
status: i discovered neil gaiman for me last year. so i picked up “neverwhere” as my next audiobook, because it’s narrated by neil gaiman himself. but i am going to stop this book here, probably, because i think i need to read this one physically. you know what i mean? 😀

title: aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe
benjamin alire sáenz
rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

thoughts: i can’t say anything else other than “I LOVE THIS BOOK SO SO SO MUCH”!!! everything about it. my review for this will be up on friday! 🙂

title: if you dare
author: a.r. torre
rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
thoughts: this was the last book in the deanna madden trilogy, which i wanted to read in december, but oh well. 😀 i really enjoyed this last book. it was fun, it was mysterious and better than the second book. that’s one more series to cross off my list – yay! 🙂

title: every heart a doorway
seanan mcguire
rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5

thoughts: this was my first book of 2018. i wanted something short and quick and i’ve been meaning to read this for a long time now. i have to say, that i expected something very different from it. i was surprised how much happened in this short book but i was also not happy with many things. and this is definitely not a young adult book in my opinion.

title: miss peregrine’s home for peculiar children
author: ransom riggs
edition: paperback
thoughts: if you didn’t know, i am a part of the traveling book project germany. we send around books to others to read, write in it and just spread the love. this book came to me yesterday and will be my next read. i really want to see, if this series is for me or not.

what are your three www? let me know in the comments! 🙂

  1. you redesigned the blog!!!! I love this look ❤ Also, CHARLES DICKENS!!! I read Hard Times for school and it was OK, not his best, and pretty much just sad the whole plot. I love his message, though, that feeling, and being passionate and playful, beingg true to yourself, is usually more important that what society says is healthy or good for you. I'm reading David Copperfield and it's my favorite next to Tale of Two Cities. TOTC= my intense love for Sydney Carton

  2. I am impressed that you plan on reading 5 Dickens’ novels this year! I can not wait to see which one ends up being your favourite.

I love that you are part of a travelling book project. That’s so fun! I was not a big fan of Miss Peregrines. I am curious to see what you think!

  3. I really enjoyed Voyager but I think I’m the only person who loved A Dragonfly in Amber! Everyone seems to find that one to be one of the weaker books in the series but it’s one of my favorites, haha! I also liked Neverwhere but I do recommend reading a physical copy. I think The Graveyard Book makes for the better audiobook, especially the full cast version! 🙂

    • i fell in love with “outlander” immediately. i mean james alexander malcolm mackenzie fraser – there is no better character hahaha 😀 but i get, that it’s not for everyone!

yay, i’m glad. definitely want to watch the movie after reading it. (if i like it 😀 )

  4. i’m currently reading, like, 8 books. as per usual. living life on the edge and all that. i just finished Daughter of the Burning City, and i picked up a bunch of books from the library today so i’m going to read one of those next 🙂 i love these posts!!

  7. Welcome back, Alex and I looooove the new design! It’s so neat!! A&D is on my TBR and I actually have it on my shelf, but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet! Now that I know you loved it, I think I should read it, too!

  8. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was really good. I haven’t read the other two books in the series yet though. The movie wasn’t that good though. I hope you like it!
