i’m back! new year, new start, old faves

hello my wonderful people! i am back! yes, you are reading right! your girl is back, because honestly, i missed you so much! i needed this break, but i also need you guys and this blog. 😀 i thought about my break a lot. i was at a point, where i wanted to stop it for good. then i was at the point where i wanted to post again. but knowing me, i would have rushed into this and it would stress me out again. so here i am. with some changes! first of all my theme. second of all, i won’t post daily anymore. that was really, really, really stressful and i don’t want to do that again. so i will choose specific dates, where i will post. right now i settled on www wednesdays to keep you up with my reading. i will also do a post on fridays, which will be either reviews, tags, awards or whatever. these two days will definitely be days i post. and everything else will just come, when it comes 😀

so, first i want to wish all of you a very happy new year 2018. i hope you all had wonderful holidays and a great start into the new year! this year will have some changes for me, which i will get into, when it’s time. but this year a lot of things are going to happen. my health is still an issue but i think i got it under control for now, which is very good. 🙂 i’m happy to be back, get back to your blogs and read what’s going on in your lives. i really, really missed you. it was like a part of me went away and i felt very weird. but we are going to change that. 😀

for my “i’m back”-post i decided to give you an overview of the books that i read in 2017. there will be some stats and also a list of all of my five star reads. i can’t decided on my favorite book this year, so it will just be a list of all of my babys 😀 let’s get started:

as you can see, i have read a lot of books in 2017. i don’t think i have ever read that many books. but i am proud. but i also know, that 2017 was a hard year. i stressed myself out about reading, which i won’t do again this year. i’ll have a new start. i will read what i want to read and i just have fun with it. i made a few goals, but i am not sad, if i won’t make them. so first, i set my goal to 60 books, which should be managable. then i want to finish all of my started series. this habit of starting new series makes me mad at myself 😀 and lastly i want to read 5 books by charles dickens. i have read all of jane austens novels last year and it was so much fun, that i want to continue with dickens this year. but that’s about it. no stress. less stress. fun. just read what i want 😀 yeah, i think you got the point hahaha 😀

so lastly, i want to show you my five star reads in 2017. there were a few and i love them all:

i had a really great reading year. out of 128 books, there were 28 five star reads for me. but i also think, that my reading became more critically, so the ratings this year probably won’t be that good haha. but i love this list. and i love these books! ❤

now off to you! what have you been up to? what were your favorites of 2017? do you have bookish resolutions? let me know everything, i need to catch up! i am so happy to be back to talk to you guys again! it’s about time! 🙂

  1. Yay! Happy New Year and welcome baack! You did great on 2017! All those yummy books… I still dont know how bloggers manage to write posts every day and have time to read. I want to participate in more memes, challenges and so on, but havent been able to organize myself and keep track of everything. I think that will be my goal for 2018: Organization 😀

  2. Yay great to have you back!! And happy new year!
I set my own goal to only 20 books. I know I’ll probably read more than that but when I keep the goal low, I don’t push myself to read, read, read 🙈 as for my blog, hmm. I try to post every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and then probably some reviews whenever I manage to actually finish something 😅

    • It’s hard for me to set a number ahead of time .. sometimes I pick up a book, start and can’t put it down! If all books were like that, I’d read over 200 in a year.
Others I struggle to complete but some silly notion within keeps me trudging through! I’d only manage about four of those a year!!
This year I am writing more, so will read as a break from writing … and like you, I can see that our coffeeloving bookoholic is recommending some amazing titiles … yummy scrums ☺️

      • haha thank you! 🙂 i know what you mean about the books. there are some you can read in no time and some you really struggle… but in my opinion, as longs as it’s fun and no stress, all is gooood!
good luck on your writing and reading this year! 🙂

  3. Welcome back and happy new year! I’m hoping to finish some series too, I’m awful about reading first books and never following up lol I’m also trying to post more consistently (schedules are my kryptonite) but we’ll see what happens!

  4. Happy New Year! I hope the break has helped! Sometimes we need to take a break from things and that’s perfectly okay. It better to take a break than burn yourself out completely. I am looking forward to seeing your posts again! Your goals are great, I definitely need to start finishing series. The amount of series in which I’ve read the first boot but not continued… oops 😂

  5. Happy New Year! Glad you’re back, Alex. 🙂 You had such a productive year of reading and I smashed my goal, too. I set it for 75 books and read 120 by the end of the year. 🙂 I’m hoping to read 10 non-fiction books, read the entire HP series and maybe do more buddy reads.

A lot of your favorite books of the year are ones I plan on picking up soon. I especially can’t wait for Starfish and We Are the Ants 😀

  7. Welcome back! 😀
I see a few of my favourites in your 5-Star reads. That’s a good idea to not worry about reading so much in 2018, I’m trying to do the same. My goal is 60 books too 📚

  9. Whooop, welcome back, girl! And a happy new year to you as well!
I can totally see why you’d want to put less pressure on yourself on all different levels in your life. Your blog is definitely a good place to start as well. I’m going to miss your daily posts – hell, I already was when you were on your break – but I definitely understand why you’re making this decision. 😀

Here’s to another great year of reading!
