Olivia receives a very unexpected confession from her late husband about one of their sons that could shatter the whole family.

Prior to revealing the secret to her children, Olivia must figure out which boy Ben refers to in the confession he left her in his will. While the family attorney searches for the mysterious Rowena Hector whom Ben says holds the answers, Olivia asks her sons to each spend a week with her as she isn’t ready to let go of the past. When Olivia visits her sons, she quickly learns that each one has been keeping his own secret from her. We all need family. We all want to fit in. We’re all a mix of quirky personalities. Will Olivia be able to fix them or will the whole family implode? What will she do when she discovers the son behind Ben’s secret? 1. This was such an exciting and fun poll! I can’t tell you how hilarious it was going back and forth with Alex trying to choose only 3 for each character. We agreed on 2 for almost everyone, but then each had someone else in mind for the third. We compromise well!

I’m pretty closely aligned with most of the winners. There were only 2 people I saw while writing the book, and not even at first. But as I finished, I definitely had Meryl Street (Olivia) and Eddie Redmayne (Ethan) in mind, so I’m glad they won the poll.

The biggest surprise was Matt Bomer as Teddy, not because he couldn’t play him, but I saw Teddy as less physically attractive, less built and a bit more arrogant. I’m sure Bomer could pull it off… I loved him in Guiding Light nearly 15 years ago (he was a very angry character!).

Congrats to everyone who picked the winners. Can’t wait to see all your thoughts. And of course, major kudos and thanks to Alex for being the best partner on this poll — it wouldn’t have been as awesome to plan and watch without her!!!

i think meryl street and eddie redmayne just fit so perfectly! i immediately had them in mind.
and i get what you say about matt bomer, i’m just glad he won, because i love him as an actor and i wanted him to be in this cast haha! and his outfit and behavior in “white collar” just reminded me a little bit of teddy 🙂

  2. This was such a fun poll! But you know what, I couldn’t participate the poll because I hardly ever watch movies ever since I started reading books and the actors I visualized while reading books are way too older for the role… for instance, I visualized an actor who played Ross in ‘Friends’ for Matt. lol I had Anthony Hopkins for Ben (yeah, too old?) and I had Sally Field for Olivia and such. But I totally agree with Eddie for Ethan. Great poll again, Alex! I really admire your greatness and creativity! You are amazing, I wish I could be like you!
