october wrap up

wrap up

hello my lovely bookoholics! ❤ i can’t believe october is over and i am doing a wrap up again! it’s crazy how time flies. but it is how it is. since i participated in #OWNtober organized by my girl kathy over @books & munches i had an amazing reading month, because i only read my own books. well one audiobook from the library, but i started that in september and finished it at the beginning of october, so it’s ok 😀 all in all i am happy with my eleven books, but i am sure, that i could have read more, if my life wouldn’t have been so busy. oh well, that’s just life. but now, let’s get to the wrap up! 🙂

1.) station eleven

stationeleventitle: station eleven
author: emily st. john mandel
rating: ⭐⭐

my review:
i didn’t enjoy this book. mainly because i didn’t get it and i definitely expected something else. i couldn’t connect with the characters and really didn’t like the story. you can read my full review here

2.) warcross

title: warcross
author: marie lu

my review:
“warcross” by marie lu really is an adventure. you’re thrown straight into the story and it’s exciting right from the beginning. the technological aspect can be a little bit overwhelming at the beginning and it takes some time to get used to the whole videogame concept, but it’s still easy to follow and at some point, you won’t be able to put it down. read my full review here

3.) autoboyography

autoboyographytitle: autoboyography
author: christina lauren

my review:
“autoboyography” by christina lauren is a beautifully written story about two characters, who fall in love and their struggle – because of beliefs, because of family, because of fear. it’s heartbreaking but hopeful at the same time. read my full review here

4.) the smell of other people’s houses

thesmellofotherpeopleshousestitle: the smell of other people’s houses
author: bonnie-sue hitchcock

my review:
it’s a moving book, that’s emotional and will take you by surprise sometimes. the writing is beautiful and if you are interested in alaska and different smells, then you’re going to be a big fan of this book. you can read my full review here

5.) invisible

invisibletitle: invisible
author: paul auster

my review:
i discovered paul auster this year and i really like his novels so far. “invisible” blew my mind, because it was brutal and honest and i was kinda shocked while listening to this audiobook. i had so many emotions and i needed to know what’s going to happen. this was a really great read!

6.) without merit

wihtoutmerittitle: without merit
author: colleen hoover

my review:
“without merit” by colleen hoover will affect you emotionally at some point. may it be anger, frustration or in the end hope. in my opinion it’s a great book, that is addicting and will probably shock you at some points, but it’s definitely a good book, that i would recommend. read my full review here

7.) harry potter and the philosopher’s stone

title: harry potter and the philosopher’s stone
author: j.k. rowling

my review:
yes, it happened. i have read the first “harry potter” book for the first time. and it was magical. i loved it so, so, so much. read my thoughts on the book here

8.) turtles all the way down

title: turtles all the way down
author: john green
review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

my review:
this was my most anticipated read of the whole year. it’s not that i didn’t like it. i really did. but i had my issues with it. you can read about it in my review here

9.) dare mighty things

title: dare mighty things
author: heather kaczynski
review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

my review:
i have heard about “dare mighty things” on booktube so i picked it up. i didn’t know, that it would be a bad idea starting it, while still reading “nyxia” by scott reintgen. because it’s basically the same story. teens in space. competition. but somehow i got stuck in “nyxia” and continued with “dare mighty things”. i guess the characters were more for me and i really liked how the ending turned out, because i didn’t predict it. i will definitely continue with this series.

10.) crown of midnight

title: crown of midnight
author: sarah j. maas
review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25

my review:
i love this series. there is not much to say. i did a readalong with my girls adrienne over @darque dreamer reads and kathy @books & munches and it was so much fun. i love the characters and i need to know what is going to happen! here‘s our q&a of our blog event for the readalong and my full review!

11.) stardust

title: stardust
author: neil gaiman
review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

my review:
this was my first neil gaiman ever. i picked up the audiobook, since it was available from the library. i have this book in paperback but i thought, that i would listen to it, since neil gaiman is narrating it himself. and it was so much fun. i got completely lost and i listened to the whole book while cleaning my apartment for hours. cleaning really is enjoyable if you have a great audiobook. 😀

so, that was it guys, my october wrap up! i am pretty happy about my reading and i hope, that november will be as good as october 🙂

  1. It seems like you’ve had a great month of reading, most of these are on my TBR and I’m really excited to read them! I’m so sorry that you didn’t like Station Eleven, I’ve heard only great things about it and I was really pumped about it. But so glad you loved Warcross, I’ll get to it this month, I can’t wait any longer!!

  2. OH MY GOSH, I am so jealous to see you read HP for the first time, I wish I could read it for the first time again (as much as I love re-reading it annually, when you know the story back to front it’s a lil less exciting!) I’m hopefully reading Warcross this month, so I’m so excited to see your thoughts!

  3. HARRY POTTER AND WARCROSS!!! Harry Potter is one of my favorite series of all time, so I am so glad you finally started it. (Better late than never, right? 😉 ) I can’t wait to see what you think of the rest of the series – in my opinion every book just gets better and better. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! ❤

  4. Awesome reading month! You go, girl! 😉 I’m proud of you for sticking to OWNtober so well!

On another note, I’ve been unhappy with the way I’m organizing my monthly wrap-up posts lately, so I /might/ steal some ideas from yours… if you won’t hate me for it 😂
