top 5 wednesday: books i’ve read because of the traveling book project

top 5 wednesday is a weekly challenge where you can pick your top 5 for the topic of the week. you can find more information about it on goodreads.

this weeks topic is:
Books You’ve Read Because of Booktube/Blogging/etc.

— Discuss the books you’ve picked up because you’ve heard of them in the online book community or platform you use

most books i read, i see on booktube or bookstagram or read about on blog posts. so it would be very hard for me to make a top 5. but i found another thing, i want to talk about. last year i joined the traveling book project germany. we are sending around books, where everybody who reads a book, can write or draw in it and at the end the owner gets a complete unique book back. i have read 18 books so far, that have traveled to me and i want to talk about the top 5 of those today. so let’s get started:

1.) “the martian” by andy weir

i need to mention “the martian” because this is one of my favorite books now. but it’s not just the story or mark watney, i loved the experience reading this as a traveling book. there were so many comments from previous readers in it, that it made so much more fun to read this book. the experience was amazing. i am so jealous of my friend who owns this edition now, because i really want to have it on my own. 😀

2.) “wonder” by r.j. palacio

“wonder” was the second book i have read because of the traveling book project and i cried so much. this story about auggie hit me so hard, because it was so beautiful and hopeful. i loved everything about this book and i am so happy, that it made its way to me.

3.) “steelheart” by brandon sanderson

i didn’t know much about “steelheart” before getting into it. i knew, that brandon sanderson was a popular author and i heard, that “steelheart” is sci-fi. after reading “the martian” i was on a sci-fi kick and i am so happy, that i read “steelheart” because it is amazing. the story is great and the main character david is hilarious. he reminded me very much of mark watney and i had to laugh so much during this book.

4.) “attachments” by rainbow rowell

“attachments” holds a very special place in my heart, because it’s been my first rainbow rowell novel. i have heard about books by her and i was very happy, that “attachments” was send around, because i really enjoyed it. i had to laugh and i liked the plot and it made me love rainbow rowell’s writing.

5.) “the long walk” by stephen king

this book really left an impact on me, because after reading “the long walk” i was like: “whaaaaaaat?” this book blew my mind. i couldn’t put it down and it really left an impact on me. it’s creepy and you ask yourself, why would somebody ever do that to themselves? it was also the first stephen king book since many years and i remembered, how good an author he is.

so that’s it guys. these are some of my favorite books i have read because of the traveling book project. i hope there are many more to come! 🙂
