the summer book tag

i found this tag on amy jane reads channel and i decided to do it, because the sun is shining and summer is here – yay! ❤ 😀

1. What three books do you want to read this summer?

elizaandhermonsters becauseyoulovetohateme summerdaysandsummernights

today my bookmail came, yay! i can’t wait to start on “eliza and her monsters” by francesca zappia. i’m so happy i have nothing else to do today, so i can relax and just read. ❤
and since i am so invested in booktube, i was so happy to hear, that there is an anthology, where authors collaborated with booktubers. so i had to have my hands on “because you love to hate me” and now it’s finally here.
a few days ago i started with “summer days and summer nights” but so far, i am not really sold on that one. but we’ll see. 🙂

2. Which character most embodies the traits of summer?

this one is hard, because every character has it’s flaws and can’t be happy and sunshiny all the time. but i am going to go with augustus waters from “the fault in our stars” by john green. i love this guy. he is cute and adorable and he enjoys life to the fullest. he’s there for his friends, goes for what he wants and always tries to be happy, no matter what life throws at him. gotta love him! ❤

3. What book do you most associate with the physicality of summer?

mosquitoland thelastdaysofcalifornia ontheroad

for this i am going to go with books about roadtrips. i love going on roadtrips myself and it’s this feeling of freedom, just driving around, clearing your head and enjoying life, that says summer to me. being outside on a vacation and just live life. that’s what summer means to me and that’s why i associate summer with roadtrips. last year i’ve read three books about roadtrips, “mosquitoland” by david arnold, “the last days of california” by mary miller and “on the road” by jack kerouac. i’ve read them during summer and they made me happy, because i could discover the world a little bit, without traveling myself.

4. What kind of books do you like to read on holiday? Any books that hold memories to certain places?

thesisterhoodofthetravelingpants after

since i am a sucker for ya-romances, i could read them all the time. but summer is still my favorite season to read them. they are light and funny and mostly with a happy ending, so that i am also very happy in the end 😀
the first book, that comes to mind is “the sisterhood of the traveling pants” by ann brashares. i read this book 9 years ago while i was traveling through the USA on my own. i loved this book back then and i still keep it with me in my heart and in my bookshelf, although it looks really rough 😀
the second book that comes to mind is “after” by anna todd. i know, there are a lot of things wrong with this book, but for me it came at the right time and it was my guilty pleasure during my one week vacation in greece. i read 3,5 books of this series back then and i remember loving it. summer, sun, beach and a story, that kept me turning the pages. 🙂

5. If you could you go on holiday with any author, who would you go with and where? What would you want to know?

laurengraham wild

i found the perfect one for that and i am going to go with lauren graham. i know she is mainly an actress, but she also wrote a novel (“someday, someday maybe“) and the memoir “talking as fast as i can“. this woman is one of my favorite people on earth and i love her as an actress and writer. she is so funny and i think we would have the best time. i would do “wild” by cheryl strayed with her, because she never got to do it as lorelei gilmore in “gilmore girls: a year in the life”.  but don’t ask me, what i would want to know, because i think we would talk nonstop 😀

6. What’s your book of the year so far?

definitely “kids of appetite” by david arnold. it is just sooooooo amazing! ❤ ❤ ❤

7. How did you spend your summer holidays as a child?

mostly we went on vacation for two weeks. we spent it as a family on the beach in different countries in europe. the rest of the time i was mostly outside playing with the other kids in the neighborhood. there was no tv or computer back then, so we just played outside and it was amazing. ❤

8. What are your plans this summer?

reading as much as i can. also going to los angeles for a week, then get some friends to visit me in berlin and going to a robbie williams concert and the lollapallooza festival to see mumford & sons. i am soooo looking forward to it. otherwise just relax and enjoy the summer in the city. i already had my vacation in the beginning of the year when i went on a roadtrip through cuba. ❤

feel free to do this tag yourself and let me know, what your favorite summer read is. also,  what do you plan to read this summer?
