i know i am a little late for this wrap-up, but i was gone all weekend. i visited one of my best friends and we went to the coldplay concert and it. was. just. the. best. thing. ever!!!! i love this band so so so soooo much!!! ❤ ❤ ❤
so. let’s get into the june wrap-up. i wasn’t that successful this month, because i got into a big reading slump and i am still kind of in the middle of it. i want it gone. please, just go. but all in all, i read seven books this month. here are some stats:
female authors: 6
male authors: 1
1.) a conjuring of light
title: a conjuring of lights
author: v.e. schwab
“i wish i could give it five stars but i can’t! it was still really good and i am so happy that i have read this trilogy! i enjoyed it so much! :)”
i loved this trilogy all in all. i love kell, he is my one and only ❤ but this last installment was difficult for me. the short chapters were difficult, because you got into a chapter and then it was over. it jumped too much. also, there was waaaaaay to less of kells point of view. come on, he is the guy, why don’t you give him more to say. as mentioned, it was good, but it could have been better!
2.) our dark duet
title: our dark duet
author: v.e. schwab
i read this one in almost one sitting and i loved it. i was so happy to see my man august back and i really enjoyed the story. i had a lot of wtf-moments and i couldn’t put this book down. i liked the development of the characters and i liked the new villain, which brought so much suspense. but also other characters got their chance to shine. kate was just badass and august was ❤ i loved this ending of the duology and after reading it, i tried to find something, i didn’t like. but there was nothing!
3.) one flew over the cuckoo’s nest
title: one flew over the cuckoo’s nest
author: ken kesey
first i was like: ooookaaaay…
then i was like: WTF is he talking about?
then i came to the stage: oh i get it!
then came the part: shit, this is perfectly done
in the end i was like: damn it, why did the writing style made this so so so hard for me 😦
4.) northanger abbey
title: northanger abbey
author: jane austen
this was such a great read! and funny! and cute! oh henry ❤
as you may know, i am doing a one-austen-a-month-project. “northanger abbey” was my fourth novel and i reaaaally loved it. “persuasion” was a little bit better for me, but this novel is also great. the humor is amazing and i had to laugh a lot. also, the character of henry was soooo good. i loved him in this book and the ending made me very happy.
author: v.e. schwab
it was good, but definitely not what i expected…
as you maybe can see, june was my v.e. schwab month. i was so into her writing, that i picked up “vicious”. but in the end i was a little bit disappointed. the story was ok, but i missed some aspects. i couldn’t connect that much with the characters, which i usually do with her books. also the ending couldn’t convince me. there was just something missing. i think because of all the hype i expected more. but this book sadly couldn’t give that to me.
6.) i’ll give you the sun
title: i’ll give you the sun
author: jandy nelson
i am not going to lie guys. i went into “i’ll give you the sun” because i wanted a fluffy, easy contemporary. well, was i mistaken. this book wasn’t easy and fluffy at all. it is really depressing but in the end still full of hope. read full review here
author: ashley poston
“geekerella” by ashley poston was the perfect book to give me so much joy. i listened to it on audiobook and maybe that was the reason, why i gave it such a high rating. this audiobook was narrated so well, that it gave me all the feels. i laughed, i smiled, i teared up and i had this “i feel amazing”-feeling while listening to it. read full review here
so, that’s all the books i’ve read in june. i am happy about all the books and i hope, that my reading slump takes off soon, so i can enjoy all the books i have waiting for me. 🙂
let me know in the comments, how many books you’ve read in june and what your favorite was. 🙂
