mid year book freakout tag: 2017

it’s almost the middle of the year, so it’s time to do the freakout tag. so far, i have read 66 books this year and i am very, very happy about that. my goodreads goal was 80 books this year and i am sure i can make it. i think i have never read so many books in such a short time. and it is AMAZING! i love my books. so let’s start with the tag:

1. best book you’ve read so far in 2017

IMG_3232i read sooooo many good books this year. but after reading “kids of appetite” by david arnold, i had the first moment, where i wanted to give more than five stars to a book. i loooooved it. it gave me all the feels, it was an amazing story, the characters were great and i couldn’t put it down. that are signs for me, that i really love a book. please read it!

2. best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017

that would be “our dark duet” by v.e. schwab. it’s the second book in the monsters of verity duology. i was anticipating this book so much and i read it in one sitting. and i had so much fun. after reading it, i tried to find something, i didn’t like, but i couldn’t find anything. i loved the characters, especially august, he’s my man. the story was thrilling and the conclusion was very good. i had many wtf-moments and couldn’t believe what was happening. after i put it down, i was satisfied and marked it as a wonderful series, which i will always cherish.

3. new release you haven’t read yet, but want to

i recently bought “one of us is lying” by karen m. mcmanus. i heard, that it is a similar story than “the breakfast club”, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. but in this case it has a thriller element, which intrigued me very much, because i love a good thriller and i am really looking forward to this book.

4. most anticipated release for the second half of the year

IMG_2969guys, soon. soon it’s time for “godsgrave” by jay kristoff to come out. i am really anticipating it, because i have my theories and i really want them to be true. i can’t wait for this book, especially after my opinion of the first book changed. during the first 60 pages i wanted to dnf it and then i couldn’t put it down, because it. was. so. good! give me the sequel. NOW!

5. biggest disappointment

definitely “dubliners” by james joyce. i love ireland. that is my country. i want to live there. i want to be there. the irish people are the best people on earth. the country is beautiful. i love movies about ireland. i love books about ireland. that’s why i was so happy to read “dubliners”. but i didn’t know, that it was a short story collection. and it was one collection, i didn’t know. it even wasn’t the writing, which is special, because well, it’s james joyce. the stories didn’t get to me. i didn’t like them. maybe there was one which was ok, but the rest was just meh or not interesting. and unfortunately, the parts about ireland or dublin couldn’t save this book for me.

6. biggest surprise

IMG_8053i need to mention this book, because it ripped me apart. “a man called ove” by fredrik backman. i really didn’t know much about it. i knew it was about a grumpy, old man. but it was so much more. it is a heart-breaking story about a man, who went through a lot of shit in life. i felt so connected to ove and i loved this character. i also loved the side characters and how the story unfolded. it’s a beautiful book guys, and i never thought, that i would love it so much. ❤

7. favourite new author (debut or new to you)

well hello v.e. schwab. 😀 i haven’t read anything before from her. and this year, i read everything, except “the archived”. i love her writing. it is so gripping and so easy and good to read, that every book is a lot of fun. her stories are also amazing and you can’t put down her books. she is definitely my new auto-buy-author.

8. newest fictional crush

OMG where should i start? levi from “fangirl”. august from “this savage song”. tric from “nevernight”. kaz brekker from “six of crows”. kell from “a darker shade of magic”.  i could go on, but i will stop now. 😀

9. newest favourite character

i don’t knoooooow! heeelp! i love mia from “nevernight”. i love many characters from jane austens novel. i love kell, kaz, levi. i can’t decide. sorry! *facepalm* (last year was easier, because nobody beats mark watney 😀 )

10. book that made you cry

as mentioned before, this would be “a man called ove” by fredrik backman.

11. book that made you happy

i really enjoyed the “to all the boys i’ve loved before” trilogy by jenny han. it was such a cute ya-contemporary read, that made me happy every book. it’s nothing special, but so much fun to read and it gives you this satisfied feeling in the end.

12. most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

IMG_8699i love all the penguin english library editions. i bought so many this year. i have almost every jane austen book, a lot of charles dickens books and some other classics. they are beautiful and so good to read.

13. what books do you need to read by the end of the year?

definitely “harry potter” by j.k. rowling and “the hobbit” by j.r.r. tolkien. and many more. but the time guys. the time!!! *facepalm*

  1. So many books, well done! ❤ You really should read Harry Potter if you haven’t already, it’s my favourite series ever! ☺

  2. You really should! I don’t even think she matters… I first read them when I was 10 and I honestly love them just as much now I’m nearly 18😂. Good luck! ☺
